2008 - 2012 Malibu ignition key cylinder replacement keeping original key

I have scoured the Internet, read the instruction sheet for a new ignition lock cylinder and watched countless videos, and this video is by far the most complete and best explanation of how to re-code a Malibu or Saturn from start to finish and the only video on the internet to tell everything you need to know and how to remove, re-code for the original key and re-install a key lock cylinder. Outstanding video....many thanks for posting it.

Ok after pulling put pin 3 . What are the rest of the PIN numbers ?? After 3 then what ??

I replaced my ignition switch because my key gets stuck. But now maybe the cylinder is bad? My key got stuck in the ignition again but its only when I insert that cable into the switch. Could my cylinder be bad as well? I'm thinking it's something else since I can have the cylinder in my hands and insert and remove the key..

I replaced the switch and cylinder. It fixed the issues right away

Whats happens when you don't have a key to turn it?

at 2:42 you can see the metal spring tab sticking out at 4 o'clock. That won't press in to release it. Maybe the dealer can make a key as they should have the code for that car. Or you need to pick the lock. Or drill it out from the front till the inside come out, or remove the whole assembly and drill out that tab till you get it out. Or buy the entire assembly in the dash and replace it.

So I literally just got my wife's car out of the impound shop.. just earlier today the damn key broke inside the cylinder.. smfh.. I now how half the damn key inside the car.. in the parking lot of a CVS.. praying to god it doesnt get towed.. AGAIN.. and cost me another $600... any suggestions?? I'd like to just buy the entire damn ignition cylinder with key n all cheap or not theres a couple on Autozone, O'Reiley's, ect., may not be the best but I know they'll suffice for now.. therefore I have no key essentially to pull the cylinder out with or even turn over to accessory as you have.. I suppose I'll have to pick the lock in some way??

I can't find this ignition cylinder anywhere I ordered one of Amazon it was different can u provide the source for this item please n thank u
