Take care with the seal inside the air intake to the turbo. Mercedes may recommend changing it whenever it is disturbed. That's probably excessive, but it's a good idea to inspect it and to be careful in removing and reinstalling the hose.

No need to remove the filter clamp with 3 torx bolts. Just loosen the allen screw and pull the filter out.

I want to travel with a spare fuel filter in case I get some sketchy fuel somewhere. I asked my local MB dealer (Santa Fe, NM) for the part number, but even after giving them my VIN (2017 Sprinter 2500 with 3-L 6-cyl diesel) they could not tell me. Parts guy said that it could be one of three different filters, and that I would have to look on the filter in the van to see. So, I'll be doing most of this procedure (maybe all of it) just to find the part number. Seems ridiculous.

Funny, I called the local MB dealer today, gave him the VIN number and he said it could be one of two different filters, he couldn't tell me which one. Said one costs $120 and the other $200.

Uhhh I followed this video. My van didint start when I tried right away. Wouldn't turn over. It started second go. Did you forget to tell us to prime the filter before starting it?
@godzla694 жыл бұрын
Good idea to fill the new filter with diesel fuel when installing, I also put small vice grips on each of the two hoses to avoid losing the prime in the system.
@dw57722 жыл бұрын
When turning the key to the on position, did you wait until the beeps stopped before starting it? I beleive during that period it primes the fuel line. I always wait til it stops beeping before starting and mine started up first try.

You do lose some fuel. I would protect your driveway. It is minimal because all connections are on the top. There could be some pressure in it.

Why not remove the turbo intake hose? Seems to get in the way. Just cover the turbo opening with a cloth to prevent something from falling into it. Question: Why did MB place the air intake on the driver side of the airfilter? Why not place it on the pax side and the air ducting from the driver's side of the airfilter to the turbo would be shorter and more direct with less turns. Just an observation...
@junocheyennekrakus50043 жыл бұрын
While it make this job much easier, MB recommends replacing orange turbo O ring every time you remove turbo intake house.
