2008 Belmont Stakes - Da' Tara

The world awaited a delivery from Big Brown, but in a shocker it was 38-1 longshot Da' Tara who won the Belmont Stakes (gr. I), taking the "Test of the Champion" in wire-to-wire fashion June 7 as the horse seeking to win the Triple Crown was eased past the wire.
Trainer Nick Zito spoiled a Triple Crown for the second time in five years. He also trained Birdstone , who beat Smarty Jones in the 2004 Belmont. And, like 2004 when Zito also ran third with Royal Assault, he was third this year with Anak Nakal, who dead-heated with Ready's Echo. In second was Denis of Cork, who was 5 1/4 lengths in back of the winner.

Desormeaux is still waiting lol... Pretty good memories of this race... At a watch, party drinks flowing. Everyone was sure this was going to be the year the streak was over. Big brown had dominated the Preakness and Derby as well. No one had even heard of the other horses. However DaTara had other ideas and another gear... on this day at least. I think even if Big Brown ran his best race, it still would have been very close. DaTara was still eager and running hard at the end.

Yep, exactly. BB was taken off the anabolic steroid regimen he had been on up to the Preakness because they knew he would throw a positive test for them in NY at the Belmont and coming off that regimen certainly helped dull him for the Belmont. Of course the Dutrow fanboy cheerleaders don’t want to face the reality that every horse in Dutrow’s barn including BB was juiced to the hilt!

This was the most obvious stiff job in horse racing history.prior to the race the owner received death threats,plus has had legal trouble related to his business.dutrow has had legal troubles of his own.he later was banned for ten years for drugging horses.kent desormeaux has had alcohol and physically abuse charges on his record,and has been suspended by the steward's.organized crime in my guess had a big part of big brown losing the belmont.the owner,trainer,and jockey are all laughing to the bank,or were threatened and had no choice but to make certain big brown did not hit the board this Day.maybe one Day the real story will come out.the cast involved are just to shady.none of them want to snitch for fear for there lives,or family members.am I alone here?.

The horse was also on a regular anabolic steroid regimen up to the Preakness. They had to take him off those performance enhancers for the Belmont because he would have tested positive for them in NY and been DQ’d. It’s not easy to suddenly be taken off such a steroid regimen and maintain performance, 😆😆
