Great video mate I just couldn't work out how to get mine off with all the wires until I saw your video simple when you know how. Thanks pal very well explained

Thanks for the video. When I took my 2008 E93 to store for the winter, 6 months ago. We had to disconnect the battery. Some insurance issue. So I took a bunch of panels off, and couldn’t figure out which ones went in first. Your video will help immensely. Thanks again....

Very helpful video... thank you. Little rubber washers hold the tie-down angle onto the long screws as you ease that 3-part assembly down into position.

Thank you for showing the differences between the E90/E92 and the E93.

They are very similar. But E93 was a pain because of a lot less space to work with.

I have both an E92 and E93 and agree completely. The E93 was a pain.

Working on an E93 is a totally different monster. I could not remove the trim panels in the rear to replace the shocks. I had to throw the towel. I did replace the battery but it took me 1 hoour.

And yes, I put in an H8 AGM Interstate, coded it and registered it with Bimmercode and Bimmerlink.

Great video ! don't you need to register the batter in your car computer? I'm asking because I have a 2009 e92 and trying to see if I can replace the battery without the need to register it, or maybe do it until later on. Thanks for sharing
@princekhan50632 жыл бұрын
It’s better if you do. But I never have. Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS) should be able to adapt. I never had any problem.

Did you code/register the battery to let the computer know you changed the battery??? Thanks.
@JG-gg1we3 жыл бұрын
the battery hold down bracket was the biggest issue. I used a magnet pick up - the kind you use to pick up stray nuts - to position the bracket and then bolted it down. Also, there is a connector and wire that you will notice does not go anywhere. It is red and blue in the video with a black L shaped plug. If anyone knows that that is for let me know. Thanks

Its a diagnostic port, does not connect to anything in the car. However theres a holder for it on the right side of the battery above the negative terminal.

Thanks bro! Do you have to reregister or reprogram the new battery or just plug and play?
@princekhan50633 жыл бұрын
BMW recommends that you reprogram when battery is swapped. didn’t do anything. Just swapped the battery. I never had any problems.
@Hoetobeajew3 жыл бұрын
@@princekhan5063 the reason you would register a battery is to reset the charge cycle vs battery age monitor. Your alternator has to charge older batteries harder when you do short journeys, so the ECU knows this and in turn it cuts down your MPG and the overall life of the new battery. Its not neceesarily noticeable but it will save you gas in the long run and it takes a few minutes with a scan tool.

How about "registration and coding" of the battery? Is that needed?
@princekhan50632 жыл бұрын
It’s recommended but not needed.

Hey I got the same exact vehicle and I did all the steps changed my battery and my car turned on just fine but when it turned on, the dashboard seemed to not work and when I plug in the memory saver it goes back to normal but the service engine soon light came on... is there another step you got to do after successfully plugging in the new battery?
@princekhan50633 жыл бұрын
Sorry for delayed response. I am sure you figured it out by now. There might be DTC set when battery was removed. So you might need to clear the codes using a diagnostic tool. Or they might clear themselves after few drive cycle. Depending on what codes were set.

I have 08 e93 also the same red an blue wires not connected to anything... just a spare. Check the wires/plug connector that connects to that black plastic rectangle shape thing on positive terminal side. That's the air bag wires maybe bad connection

I got my learning in an hour and a half on this battery you need a magnet to hold that bracket up in place to get it locked down they should have left the lockdown like all the rest on the front of the battery it would have been best
@DiegoLineros Жыл бұрын
Some people connects another battery or a battery charger to the jump start points at the front to keep the settings, would you recommend that or too risky?
@edwardivakh6287 Жыл бұрын
No it’s not risky Iv done it multiple times and it’s way easier then going thru back plus most cars have it in the front so it makes it easier

Thank you so much! Do you know what is the goal of the battery holder: 9145172?
@princekhan50632 жыл бұрын
It’s not just a battery holder. It’s a power distribution center (fuse box), and a emergency disconnect. It’s designed so the car doesn’t catch on fire. It doesn’t always work… 😂
@eugen18302 жыл бұрын
😁 But here is the answer: This is the “holder lower section”: 61139145172 For the correct usage you need also the “holder upper section”: 61139140703

There was a guy in a parking lot that needed to be jump started. I was borrowing one of these at the time and me being an idiot offered to help right away. Popped the hood, noticed the battery wasn't there, then tried to get to the battery by referencing manuals and whatnot until someone else pulled in and jumped him instead. I was so embarrassed. I hate this car lol

I've got this car and it's literally most hair-brained way to design implementation of a battery compartment that I have ever seen. It is almost as if BMW are implying that the battery isn't supposed to ever be taken out and replaced the way they've fitted them in these cars. Absolutely stupid and although I've done this myself, I absolutely wouldn't blame anyone if they just decided to pay a mechanic to get it done. Alot of hassle saved for the money to be fair.
