2008 Buick Lucerne replacing fuel pump relay the right way and how to tepair back seat problem

this is the right way of replacing the fuel pump relay you just don't take a relay that you just purchased from the AutoZone or pep boys or whatever and push it in back in the holes where the terminals are. there's no other video showing you the correct way so please watch my video subscribe and hopefully this helps you to learn how to put the new relay back in the right way there's only the one way to do it. again this is the engineer problem the way they made these Buick Lucerne and some other cars too

Thank you for this video, A few years ago our family lucerne died out and we thought that the pump was drawing too much current, thus repeatedly burning out the relay so we replaced the fuse box, relay, and fuel pump, costing us more than we really needed and getting rid of a fuel pump that was actually okay The car died again earlier this year and we got a new family car. I decided to take the lucerne since Im at the driving age now and I didnt have a good way to give a good visual example of what the problem we had before was. this time the problem is actually the replacement pump so i have to replace that. thank you for talking about the seat clip because I wouldn't have known about that and it would've just caused the same issue from a few years ago to come back in the future

How would we know if the fuse box needs to be replaced entirely?

This went out on mine too. 2008. Worst part is the first mechanic I went to just jumped the relay after replacing the entire fuel pump and didn't tell me....

I think GM has this same issue on the Cadillac DTS also because I am dealing with the problem also. I paid $6 out the door for an 09 DTS and have had it less than a week and less than 100 miles. I knew I should have just bought a new car. Damn it

Been driving a 2000 for 8 years. Just picked up a 2010 and am in the same boat as you now. Wish I just got something different. How can they mess up something so simple as this?

@@BradleyH I've owned a lot of vehicles going way back to the mid 80's and every manufacturer and every model has it's issues and flaws. I've had good luck with Fords mostly. A few GM vehicles were pretty good too. Chrysler products really bad. All cars, trucks & suv's break down over time and need repairs like ALL machines do, but they're (manufacturers) always trying to save every penny on their build costs and it shows when you're broken down on the road somewhere needing a part that could've been made better for pennies more. We can try to find the positive and be grateful for youtube DIY videos and our own mechanical abilities keeping cars running and not in the junkyard, LOL.

00:18 ''burnt out relays of fuel pump'' why did you not mention the melting fuse box, I consider that the much bigger issue. 3:58 ... are you sure this is the issue, the rubbing of the box or the vibration and not a plain heat sink problem? We could easily come up with solution to fix the seat to box cover orientation if that was the actual issue, my guess is that it is not the issue, my guess from what I've read and see is that the issue is more likely a poor heat dissipation issue as opposed to people sitting in the seat or normal vibration from driving the car. shrugs....

I got mine at my local dealership it was pretty expensive I think it was $300 at the time maybe a little more but I know it was pretty high. You might be able to get them on eBay but again I know they probably are $300 or more. It's a shame everything is so darn expensive. You can also get a low profile fuse if your box is not burned out. People sell those eBay. Wish you luck, thank you

Yes it would. You can get a new relay and remove the old one and install the new one. But the problem will happen again time with a bad relay fuse box. Wishing you the best of luck with it. You can sometimes get a complete fuse box on eBay at a decent price. But make sure you use a low profile fuel pump relay fuse.

I had to replaced the relay- fuse box shortly after with a new one, cause it would short out new relays I installed, I went through 3 relay's before I installed the new one. Keep a few extra fuel pump relays in your car so in case you need them if you get stranded until you decide to replace the complete box. Hope this helps you
