Thanks a million for this video. The line from the pump to my main line shook loose, but I went ahead and replaced the pump. Your video was a life saver. The rubber hose on the side of the tank was a nightmare to get off. There was a small screw I removed on the wheel well for the gas intake line to allow me to pull it off. Thanks again

Check the relay and fuse for the fuel system under the hood after install. I installed everything correctly, and it didn't work... I spent 3 hours troubleshooting, and it was the fuel pump 10A FUSE. Fuse had continuity, didn't looked burned out, replaced the fuse, and my new pump roared to life. Thanks again!

You bet. In a prior video I showed where I got a little pressure out I’d the pump, which meant all the pump power logic was working, just the pump itself had failed.
@Tredwayj3 жыл бұрын
This was much more difficult than how easy you made it look. Luckily I don’t have the AWD. Biggest pain for me was some of the connectors which are old and I had to cut the filler hose off. Also highly recommended to drain the tank before re installing. Thanks for the video it definitely helped. Oh and boy was the pump washer hard to get off. I actually had to use a hammer. Not recommended as you could throw sparks and that is highly dangerous. But I was desperate and took precautions the best I could using wood as a chisel. Thanks again.

Sorry to make it seem easy, I come from the rust belt so dropping fuel tanks because fuel lines rust out, pumps fail, or tanks leak is fairly common. I had quite a bit of prying with hoses, penetrating oil can help with those. I’m glad the video helped, when I went to find a video about pulling the pump on KZbin there was no good video, so I just tried to cover what was involved. Also happy I live in the Prairies now and this car is a fairly rust free example of that.

I've heard of some who simply took the carpet out of the inside and cut a hole above where the pump is located and pull it out. Sounds like a lot less work. I've also heard that people who tend to run their fuel levels down to near empty are the ones with high instance of fuel pump failure. My Equinox has 203,000 miles on it and still has it's original pump. I never let it go below 1/2 or 1/3 a tank.
@Turbo231 Жыл бұрын
Depends on how you want to do it. The pipes to the pump aren’t meant to be removed from the pump assembly and there is no wiggle room to pull them apart, so cutting a hole looks less and less easy. Fuel pumps are what they are, run them high, run them low, my wife never let her tank get low and here we were. There are cars that have gone 400,000k on the original pump and others much less. We live in a rough service area, it gets hot to 100F in the summer and -40F in the winter, maybe it needed more fuel system cleaner? Less dust? Better roads? The guy on the assembly line to have not slammed it in the tank so hard? Who knows.

Thanks for the video, but you called the part that goes through the tank to the other side a pump, It is not a pump, there is only one pump and it is in the canister the thing you called a pump is simply an inlet line that goes to a venturi in the canister where a vacuum is created by the canister pump. There is only one pump, the wires that go to the other side go to the fuel gauge sending unit in series with the fuel level sensor mounted on the canister. When I heard someone before say they had 2 pumps, one for each side, I knew that would be too stupid of a design to be true, it was.
