I remember a bit over 5 years ago my clutch went on my 8th gen and this was one of the videos that helped me so much to replace the clutch and mind you it was my first time doing a job this big on a vehicle. I put over 80,000 since that job and no issues at all. Just wanna say thank you guys so much and was glad to have come across your videos once again. Brings back good memories for me 🤙🏽😎😁

Doug here: Got a complete set of Honda shop manuals for the 8th gen Si. Watched a bunch of vids for clutch R&R- yours is the best. Will do my Si starting tomorrow. Thanks guys, easiest to follow for the step-by-step.

Just 2 things I've learned: tie or strap up your steering rack & always mark your subframe before dropping it.

In 2018, just wanna say 'THANK YOU' you boys are the most informative I've seen on the net. Excellent job guys and I am sure I speak for the many here, we really appreicate this well explained step by step and talking us thought the issues along the way to bring awareness. I 'WILL' be doing my own changes going forward solely because of 'THIS' excellent video that has given a lot of confidance and clarity and its not too bad a job at all; compared to what I was initally thinking.

How long did it take you? Just curious, if you don’t remember no worries.
@elgatogordo9523 Жыл бұрын
@@learninglife319 Honestly, it took me about 3 weeks. My work schedule can be pretty demanding. The hardest part was removing the subframe. Lots of hardware to remove and keep track of. I used a large piece of cardboard and punched holes to keep the hardware in place and location. Luckily I had an extra vehicle that my son used for work. I would recommend having an extra vehicle if time isn't an issue. Saved my son lots of money and gave this old dude some good experience 👴Good Luck!

That bread trick is pretty cool.
@mleiber19825 ай бұрын
Great video! It definitely helped! I've almost got mine back together. Transmission is in! The only issues I had was the bread didn't work for me. I went with the tried and true method of packing it with grease and it came right out. Also, for anyone wondering, on the right side motor mount I only took out the two nuts and the bolt that hold the mount to the transmission and it worked fine. Tying up the steering rack also didn't work for me. It twisted and fell out anyway.

I bought a kit off eBay with LUK on the page and it arrived in a LUK box. Garage fitted it for me and they advised me they couldn't find any markings on the parts. When the parts were fitted the pedal was like a brick and you could hardly get it into gears. It turned out only the bolts were LUK. Ebay got my money back but I had to pay twice for fitting after I bought from a Honda garage. Be warned and buy decent parts.

Owning a 2008 Honda Civic SI with 2.0 V-tech DOHC and direct fuel injection@97,000miles is kinda like a love/hate relationship.Little stuff goes bad (like visor cracking under stress, or seat belt indicater light and buzzer not going off) Starts every day without fail, doesn't use or leak anything and I've had it past 190MPH. But, at last, time has come to replace the clutch almost. What's a good price to pay for labor? After seeing all the changes you guys went thru I really don't want to do it.

Best method to stop the crank from turning is not the crank bolt. Instead, screw in one of the bell housing bolts in a convenient spot and use a large screwdriver in the ring gear to stop things from turning. I use this method to loosen crank damper bolts that go well over 400 lbft to break free. You risk loosening the crank pulley bolt if you use it to immobilize the crank.

Great video as usual. I replaced my clutch flywheel With a CC 1.5 kit. I do notice that when i let go off the gas pedal on deceleration i hear a whirling sound. Is that the clutch clatter? And is that normal with an aftermarket kit?
@SERGMOTIVEGARAGE7 жыл бұрын
ive heard many people say that competition clutch's do have chatter issues so if it is chattering that is normal. but as for the sound its hard to say what it could be with out really hearing it.
