Was just thinking a lot more professional techs at dealerships should be allowed to film content of them doing diagnosis and repairs. I would run to my local dealer if I knew they were providing me the level of quality detailed service you give your customers. Yes it may be a more money but you know the OEM quality parts and detailed knowledge your service technician has can save you money in the long run. Especially for those of us who buy our vehicles and keep them for way past 100k miles. Great content as usual!!!

I remember doing that job lol , 2009 Escape Hybrid i repaired about 3 to4 years ago . Funny thing is i am currently diagnosing a door motor clicking along with No Communication issue on a 2010 Taurus SEL . A couple days ago i was going through TSB bulletins i have saved along with my own personal notes . Regarding Ford blend door motors i came across it again # TSB 07-25-12 if it was the same one you were referring to Rich . Good call on your part for continuing on for a proper diagnosis Rich . It is nice having resources and codes to go off of not to mention others to Reach Out to bouncing around past experience and knowledge .

The Car Care Nut (a Toyota Master Technician) says the most important part of any Toyota Hybrid as far as maintenance is keeping the battery cooling fan filters clean and unobstructed. Your detailed video confirms this is true for most hybrids. Your videos are very thorough and well thought out. Keep up the good work!

I bought a hybrid escape a couple weeks ago and regret it every day now, I bought a metal spare key for the doors so I can take the key out surfing and the key didn’t match the door, so I stuck it in the ignition to see if it would turn and was cut right and it put the car into anti theft and won’t start, about to sell this piece of crap as soon as I get it out of anti theft mode.

We had a Ford not long ago that went into overheat protection/shut down because of a temperature sensor. Part of an assembly I had to replace. I guess because of head gaskets being damaged they added this system to reduce it, but the system caused an issue by being over protective, lol. I’m sure you’ve seen plenty if I have seen a couple. Nice fix.

Very nice. Any chance this fan part is in a 2015 Chrysler 200, 4cyl? My mother's car shut down again in the middle of a busy intersection. 95degF. After about an hour it will restart and run. This is the SIXTH time it has left her sitting either on the road or in a parking lot. I'm thinking it is some sort of safety shutoff function, somewhere. The oil level is FULL so it is not the oil level sensor. Or is it? Could it be faulty? I drove the car a few miles last week when it was 90degF. Made note of the coolant, trans, and oil temp on the cluster gauge selects. Coolant temp rises after cold/oat startup and settled between 185-195degF. Trans rose to about 115-125degF. Oil temp ??? There are no numbers, only a 4-segmented semi-circle. I drove the car about 2 miles before the led gauge even moved. Then it only rose to about 1/3 of the gauge. Also, there is NO oil pressure gauge. What's up with that? I also placed the A/C on MAX and at lowest/coldest settings the entire time I drove it. I'm tired of asking Chrysler and Mopar technicians what is wrong with this car. Should have been taken care of the first time. I'm thinking of changing both the oil and coolant temp sensor units. And maybe the oil level sensor. I DID change the 70 A fuse in the fuse box. Upon initial inspection I noticed the teeth/prongs were brown/blue, as if from overheating. I took it apart and under a loupe could not find any degradation of the area that is supposed to break for too much current. This 70 A fuse goes to two starter related functions. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have 220k+ on my Ford Fusion hybrid 2011 and with driving in 100° outside temps my car alerted me to pull over slowly and turn off the car. I did as I have done years ago before I knew that vents below the front of the back seats could get blocked where air vents are for the computer and batteries are behind the back seat. I would clear the vent area and restart the car and was on my way, but this day it shut down twice while driving about 75MPH after pulling over to the side of the road I looked to be sure the vents were clear and restarted the car each time, but stayed at 70mph to my destination and it was fine. I have never had the AC unit serviced so I'm wondering if it is not cooling down the car enough in these extreme temps these days to keep the computer and drive batteries chilled enough. The car is 12 years old, but shows no other problems.

So i had a question for a 08 mercury mariner. Having trouble trying to wrap my head around the issue. But i have a few ideas possible. So my sister in law has one. And she says it has tight or hard to steer issue. My first thought was possibly a power steering issue. But being an 2008 it has electric variant. As there is no resovoir on this model year. So my next thought was a torq sensor. But im not sure if thats the case yet. No codes and it should have the steering wheel jitters like ive seen on most that do have it. So currently at a loss on what could be the issue. I didnt check the basics like suspension and such. Didnt find anything out of the ordinary. She just states it feels hard to turn. Which makes me believe the electric assist is not functioning correctly. But what could he the failure other then the torq sensor. And any tips for testing to possibly come to this conclusion? I do have a launch x431 pro scanner so i can jump in and out of diagnotics in the vehicle to check data etc.
@FordBossMe
@FordBossMe 2 жыл бұрын
Those steering racks can go out without any codes and sometimes you're not going to be able to see them with a scanner outside of a factory scanner Sometimes you can reprogram them and they come back online And not all steering rack assemblies have the Jitters when they go bad
@hairpunut
@hairpunut 2 жыл бұрын
@@FordBossMe so it could be a bad rack and not a bad torq sensor then. I thought of that as a possible failure. But wasnt sure if that would be the case. Alright ill have to dig into it deeper. Any ideas on how to go about testing it ?

I have a question: as a vehicle technician can you tell me why i can barely find any aftermarket parts for a D44A rear axle?? I'm trying to replace my carrier bearings and I cannot for the life of me find any. All I can find are shims. Is the D44A that uncommon?? It's an 01 jeep wj limited with the v8 and tow package. Most parts have been easy to come by but my god I cant find anything for rebuilding my gearbox or replacing inner bearings. Might have to replace whole gear box if I put this repair off.

Ya those air cooled batteries are gross; it's my biggest complaint on the Leaf: she just can't accept the KWs on DCFC! it's like we're going back to the old days when ICE vehicles were air cooled because they didn't know better . . . most EVs will also use something like this with the AC tied in because batteries don't like getting as hot as the motor and power electronics, so like with the Bolt it has an independent coolant system and evaporator/heat exchanger just for the battery.

I had a 2007 Ford Edge which would occasionally not shift out of 1st gear auto and the dealership said it was able to hold error codes and found that the trans on it had a bad control board. Replaced it under warranty and worked fine. My 2011 Ford fusion hybrid don't have the ability to remember error codes, so if I even get a wrench symbol on the display I have to bring it to them running so they can find the fault, but they said it could have been a intake device, but they said when it fails to bring it in it will be under warranty, but now they have no records of it. Good dealerships. I have had a check engine light on for years and one day I got the engine coolant replaced and the light has been out since! Ford knew nothing about how that could have fixed it!

Modern technicians == Plug in computer replace parts. No more mechanics that.can actually repair your car. Just toss in a few new parts and your good to go. I long for the days when mechanics could remove a part repair it and reinstall. Good to go. The latter should be cheaper and more green than the former. I guess time waits for no man.

Lazy design to use the AC system for cooling. Maybe use it as a secondary cooler but not the primary and only cooling system. At least it's not as lazy as the Nissan hybrids that literally did not have a cooling system for the batteries. The batteries on those shit themselves prematurely as you would expect.
@randyduncan795
@randyduncan795 3 жыл бұрын
Poor engineering at its best. Complete shutdown over an AC problem, fan problem, or just about any other problem with the hybrid system is completely unacceptable. This is unnecessary and could put the safety of the driver at risk. What they should do is disconnect the HV battery and allow the gas engine to limp it home. That way no one gets stranded in a bad part of town or in the desert. I'm not calling for a return to carburetors but technology needs to increase reliability, not degrade it.
