Sweet christ finally a clear video that puts me in the general neighborhood of what I wanted to see for my own truck.

Thanks for the video. They quoted me $1000 to replace heater core and in Tucson it's hardly ever winter. Bypass took me about 5mins

Frank Pineda you’re quite welcome. I still have mine bypassed. No issues thus far other than amazing cooling from my A/C.

So by doing this the heat will not work?
@willdavis17

David Lynch sorry for the delay. No, once you bypass the heater core you won’t have heat. You won’t have radiator fluid leaking from your heater core either.

David Lynch you can buy a heater that plugs into your charging port , it better than smelling antifreeze and gives u time to save for repair or figure out something else.

I have the '07 5.4L Triton F-150. This will hopefully be exactly what I needed. I have watched so many videos "2003 to 2008" and such. No help.

You’re quite welcome! I don’t really put much effort into this channel, but I found myself in your same position when I made it. I still have the truck with it bypassed and my 16 year old daughter is driving the truck until she saves enough money to help buy her own car.

Got a quote of $1660.00 today to replace my heater core (In Florida). Gonna miss the few days without a heater. The defroster, on the other hand...

I’m going to try to flush my core. How in the heck do you reach way back there in the firewall? Looks like I’m going to have to lay down on the engine compartment or something, as the core hose connections are way back there. Did you remove anything to make access easier? Perhaps that “bracket” to the left of the hoses that has the three large electrical harnesses? Any insight on how you we able to reach and work back there is appreciated!!
@willdavis17
@willdavis17 5 жыл бұрын
I definitely had to use a step stool and lay on top of the engine to reach those connections. I don’t remember needing to unhook anything else, but I can see someone with larger hands needing to unmount the connection box to the upper left of the heater core ports. Maybe have a small handed person reach in there to unhook the connections.

My 2007 f150 heater core is slowly getting worse . I think because I used regular tap water when I flushed my system few years ago it sped up the corrosive process

Did you have to unplug anything or take a fuse out to keep the heater off just in case you turn it on by habit?
@willdavis17
@willdavis17 Жыл бұрын
No. It doesn’t work that way. You can set the temp to high heat and it won’t do anything but blow cool air, especially if the A/C is on.

Hey man.. tried the bypass but if it doesn’t run through the core it will not have heat? Nothing will be connected to the core hoses right?
@willdavis17
@willdavis17 2 жыл бұрын
Correct. If you bypass your heater core, you won’t have heat. That’s the whole point of doing the bypass… If your heater core is leaking, you won’t have heat or any engine coolant fluid eventually. You can either do this bypass and live without heat for a while, or replace your heater core. When you do this bypass, you’re diverting the hot engine coolant away from the heater core and simply recirculating it back into the radiator and the engine.

I don’t understand how connecting it to the outlet , won’t it go back in through the heater core in reverse?
@willdavis17
@willdavis17 2 жыл бұрын
No. When you do what I describe in the video, you’re simply skipping the heater core. The lines I’m having you adjust connection with keep the flow of coolant circulating around the engine and not passing through the heater core.
@MIKEC2000
@MIKEC2000 2 жыл бұрын
@@willdavis17 but you’re plugging it into the outlet correct?
@willdavis17
@willdavis17 2 жыл бұрын
@@MIKEC2000 no. You’re disconnecting from the heater core inlet and taking that line and connecting it into the return side of the engine cooling system. You’ll see once you get under the hood.
