Just a point to add here: CDOs are not just made up of house mortgages they include different type of loans such as credit card loans , car loans also corporate bonds are part of CDOs. The instrument which is made up of just mortgages are knows as MBS (Mortgage backed securities). So you can say CDOs are MBS but on cocaine 😂

Thank you for your explaination.. in the same time i got job opportunity to work in Credit Rating company and traveled to Chicago,USA Jan 2009 and saw many people losing job in USA. Small earning people on road were begging for money for food. Who ever was boss like managers in my company were fired and they had to go home very next day. It was very hard for me to even digest that me as an Indian grabbing US citizen jobs. We can't help as that's how US economy works and we can't help it. Now again i am back to USA after 10 years working in an Investment banking company..
