I just want to really thank you for sharing this video! Ford told me that it would cost me $1000 plus tax for a six hour repair! Your video saved me tons of money and it only took me 2 hours! I ultimately ended up moving my radiator tube out of the way, but it was a very simple repair! Thank you very much! Keep on doing what you're doing and God bless!

THanks for the video, I would imagine quite a few guys have not broken their dipsticks because ot this video and we're all thankful! This was the vid I watched right before I swapped my wifes fan out. Super helpful! Had no issues at all, job done in 35 minutes!

So the dip stick thing probably saved me lol... I watched this and then put my replacement unit in last night - the fans didn't kick on. I was at that place where I could have broken a lot of things, so I put everything down and went to bed. . Woke up this morning and went over everything... I check the main power connector and the bottom little pin was bent down - I bent it back up and they worked! So glad I walked away last night. Thank you for making this video!

This helped me on my 08 Lincoln MKX. Only issue that seemed to be different than your edge was that on the bottom of my fan, there was a coolant line attached to the fan shroud. That was on the driver side fan. I have a tow package and that may be the difference, idk but I may have also missed that in this video. Thanks again for sharing.

Thank you for the video, this will make it a little less painful to replace the fan assembly. It turns out that I have a bad module, I did some shopping and buying the aftermarket complete unit is less than buying just the module from Ford. Awesome job!!

Thank you great video and I used some of the same words!!! Also a note to mention mine is an AWD WITH TOW and there is a bottom screw holding coolant hose attachment to the fan base, this is the 8mm also but it isn't coming out till it's removed. Has to be removed from the bottom

thanks for the help. Funny, on my 08, there is also a lower hose junction mounted to the bottom of the fan assy frame that you have to take off, and remount to the new fan. Not a big deal, one 8 ml bolt, but I haven't seen anyone mention this in any of the fan replacement videos I've watched
@zeus33585 жыл бұрын
I was about to mention that. Glad to see the first post I saw said it. I think it may have to do with the tow package. i have a 2008 limited edition 3.5L. I also have another rad on mine. ps. while I waited for the new fan to come in. my wife still needed the vehicle so I put 12volts with some wire I had laying around and took the connections of each individual fan and put it to the battery to see it would not turn. I then hit it with the crescent wrench while I applied power to it and started to work, then I did it to the other fan and did the same thing when it didn't work. The fans were no good but it worked long enough for the new ones to arrive.

My 07 mix had the lower harness also. No big deal but I did have to get on the floor to take it loose. Thanks for the vid.

Helpful video for sure , help me figure out how to reinstall my fans after about an hrs trying to shimmy and finagle the damn thing in there. I didn’t notice in your video that your airbox was empty and did not have an air filter in there so hopefully between the time you make a video and now you’re able to install a filter in the air peace to you bro

If you’re watching this video and you have the tow version, there is one more bolt underneath on the drivers side. Make sure you undo it and move the hoses before you lift it out.

2013 Edge, one fan inoperative, overheats when hot and car stopped. Unplugged fan connectors, checked connections still inoperative, with engine running & AC on, struck fan metal housing hard using hammer & extension, it started working, does not indicate the control module failure as fans are wired in parallel IMHO. Likely an intermittent electrical connection in the fan as it turned freely. Now to find a reliable replacement fan assembly...
@JP-mu3xl2 жыл бұрын
99% of the time when the fans slow down or quit working, its due to carbon buildup on the brushes, I removed the dual fan assembly, blew air thru the fan motors, a lot of "soot" came pouring out, then tested, and they worked great for another yr, here we are a yr later and its time to replace entire fan assembly, so, at least it bought me time to order another unit.

Hey so I have a 2008 Ford Edge. My fan is not coming on! When I start the car both fans spin slowly and stop within a minute of the start. At any time if I turn my air conditioner on the driver side fan turns on somewhat strong the passenger side fan just kind of spins. Without the AC on the fans do not turn on. Does anyone have an answer to this problem?

I installed a new fan and it still won’t come on :/ fcu is getting power all the way to the fan and fuses are good
@hectorsalvador83372 жыл бұрын
I have a problem where the fans would turn on for a few seconds then back off making the car overheat. I don’t want to buy and replace the whole radiator fan just in case this actually isn’t the problem. But if it is then I’ll gladly do it, I just don’t want to be spending money on something that might not be the issue. Could replacing the fan actually fix this overheating problem??
@HandsOnApproachChannel2 жыл бұрын
I would check and see if there's a relay somewhere under the hood for the fans. Just to make sure it's not a relay getting hot. I can't remember where it would be at the moment. But if it's not a relay I would be looking at the fans to replace. If your overheating and fans aren't running that's your problem. Long as you don't have any coolant leaks.

@@HandsOnApproachChannelI’m overheating and fans weren’t coming on I replaced whole fan unit and it’s still not coming on :/
@rev2454 жыл бұрын
At what temp should the fans come on? I’m can’t remember ever hearing them run. I had a quick rise in temp when the outside weather hits 99 and above and when not moving with the ac on. Only goes down after driving for a bit and tying off the air. Only happens on really hot days.
@selfmade-mv3rz4 жыл бұрын
The upper fan (driver side) should run anytime the ac is on! The lower side is regulated on/off by a temp sensor!
@selfmade-mv3rz4 жыл бұрын
Fyi, it was a bitch geting the clips on the side to latch in the slots. Totally doable as a DIY project. I chose to pull the upper radiator hose off to get extra space. And a second set of hands to help while putting in the new one would help out but this is not a difficult 1 man job. Took me about 30-40 mins. *Note that the longer 8MMS bolts go into the fan assembly and shorter ones for air box bracket
@rev2454 жыл бұрын
selfmade 6288 ok. The drivers side fan does not come on at all. Ever.
@geddykohler93703 жыл бұрын
Anybody thought about raising the vehicle and pulling the fan out of the bottom? Think it would be less of a headache? I know it would need to be at least 2’ high to do it, just wondering if it’s worth jacking it up to lessen the fight in and out???
@HandsOnApproachChannel3 жыл бұрын
There's some vehicles out there that are a lot easier to pull out from underneath, some you might not even be able to pull out the top. To be honest I can't remember why I pulled it out the top. Lol

If you know the one fan is bad for sure then I would say most likely yes. You can check with the parts store to make sure. But most of this cheap Chinese stuff comes as an assembly.
