2008 Magnuson Supercharged Pontiac G8 Review

I review Jared's (stickers) supercharged 2008 Pontiac G8. He has a 1.9 Magnuson supercharger on his car. If it was for his stickers the car would be a awesome sleeper. The part number for the kit is Magnuson Superchargers TVS1900 08-09 L76 Pontiac G8 GT 01-19-60-151-BL. The kit isn't made anymore though.

Never get rid of the G8!!! But having a supercharger that runs low 12's doesn't sound right. I run a 12 flat with a cam and tune.

gdubm4 he runs low boost and a canned tune. He is happy with how fast it is. He wants it to last so he doesn’t want to add more boost. Thanks for watching.

I have a stock g8 GT with a solo performance Mach shorty cat back and a k&n cold air intake...and I would love to add a super charger!...what other upgrades do you recommend with it so it won’t mess anything up?

xycfer for power I would add headers and then save up for a supercharger. The supercharger is the biggest bang for your buck. You could also do a cam for a bit more power. The cam will really make it sound good. If you haven’t lowered the car yet I’d do that too. You can do springs. I think that really improves the look of the car.

Thinking about buying a G8 with 155,000 miles how do they perform at high milage?

My G8 I've had for 1.5 years and has 143k miles on it. I unfortunately had to rebuild my 6.0 because a lifter failed. It wasn't even a DOD lifter either, one of the standard lifters failed. I do love my car though. It should be good for a long time but u ou just never know really. If the price is right, I'd say go for it. Definitely an awesome car though. I plan on keeping mine for a very long time.

@@JadXtreme Ok thanks for the feedback... sounds like you like a good project like I do. I currently have an Acura TL that's been a ongoing project. $14,900 is the asking price on the G8 I'm looking at, don't really know what they should be going for?

It varies by location really. Mine was $10000 with 135k miles on it when I bought it February 2017. Mine also is more of the lower end G8 GT with cloth seats and 18" wheels. Mine was also the cheapest I could find in NC or SC at the time. At the end of the day, you buy the G8 because you know what it is and that it is just an awesome all around car. Maybe you could find one around same price or cheaper with less miles then I would. I just happened to buy an orange G8 which happens to be a rare 2008 only color. My wife doesn't like mine as mich since the rebuild though. Lol. Cammed and loud now. Can check my channel out for a few videos of mine. You won't go wrong with a G8 though if you have a family but still want a hot rod. It fills the need pretty good.

@@joeplanter7959 depends entirely on what you get done to it while you have it out. My rebuild cost me about $4000. That includes a lot of aftermarket stuff too. Headers and full exhaust. Torque converter. Custom PCM tuning. Cam. I also did everything myself except the machine work. But if I would have kept the car stock probably would've been $2000 or less.

Daryl rabara-brokate That’s a great price. They don’t have any major issues. Stock they are very reliable cars. I guess I would check for the cracked front bumper. That’s really it.

@anonymous yes it was a g8 gt . I ended up getting an 06 trailblazer ss. The g8gt was in horrible condition. Needed tires, All new exhaust, bad misfire, airbag light on, seats had rips in them. Thats not what stopped me from getting it though. They refused to move the other cars out of the way so i can test drive it.

I'm picking up a g8 this month! Gt obviously. Question for you guys though. I currently have a grand prix gtp comp g and I had the supercharger pulley snap on me due to a bearing break in one of the wheels. I've gotten everything replaced and repaired but the car feels so much more lethargic now. I believe the pulley is same length as stock. Any ideas?

500 hp doesn't sound right at all. I have 08 G8 with port/polished heads gasket matched valve spring upgrade. Stage 2 texas speed ls3 cam. Ported trottlebody. Ls3 crank. Full exhaust and I'm just shy of 500 rwhp. And run high 11s
