Keep up the good work. I wish people would not glorify van-life. It only leaves many disenchanted. Hard dirty work ahead.

Thank you! Yes, I definitely experienced that for a while. Great life learning experiences, that’s for sure!

Always check the oil after running engine for 1 minute. Your oil level will lower after filling filter and oil passages

@2:45 It is SO much easier to leave the air intake elbow attached to the air filter box!!! It very easily pops right out of the spout below it much more easily than it comes out of the side like you struggled with...

Whered you purchase the valvoline MST oil at? I checked here locally (usa) in stores and they only have the European Formula which isn't what I want.

bluelude2001 so the first time I believe I ordered it from carid.com, and the second time I got it off Walmart’s website. It seems to be getting harder to find, but a newer version of the oil with a higher spec, say, something made for the 2016 sprinters would work

Hey Taylor, Im looking at buying essentially the same van 2008 dodge sprinter 3.0l. Did you buy yours used? Have you had many issues with it? Anything i should look out for? Thanks

Hi Zack! I did but mine used with about 160,000 miles on it and there’s a lot I could say about it The biggest things to watch out for are rust (the precious owner of mine covered up a lot of body rust I didn’t find until I started the build). Second, I have had multiple issues with my emissions systems (EGR valve and DPF), which is a known issue with this year. I haven’t had any major issues, but have had to do a lot of the maintenance myself due to people not knowing how to work on these vans and dealerships being so expensive (parts in general for these vans are very expensive; diesel + Mercedes = $$$). I would not buy one of these vans if you are not 1. Mechanically inclined, or 2. Have the money to pay someone else for the work. They are fantastic vehicles when they work, and become very costly when they don’t. My personal opinion is that I wouldn’t buy the van again. I’ve gained a lot of knowledge, but tend to be incredibly anxious on trips expecting something to break 😅 I’d honestly get a domestic van to live in given the chance to do it over as they are cheaper to upkeep. The main reason really to get a sprinter is if you plan on towing or having a really heavy build.
