The 2008 season featured one Category 5 storm - Jangmi.
The deadliest cyclone was Typhoon Hagupit, which killed 96. At $997 million, it was also the costliest storm. Typhoon Halong was the most destructive storm, affecting 232,195 buildings. Typhoon Fung-wong triggered 339,236 evacuations, the largest of the season. Typhoon Sinlaku dumped 1611mm of rainfall, the highest of the season.

Neoguri is one of the earliest typhoon to make landfall in South China. Also, as temperature in Hong Kong rised, it is said that Neoguri transitioned to extratropical cyclone after it had made landfall.

@@kyle9331 yeah, i never thought Rolly will be the worst, though i always wanted Quinta and Ulysses to be retired and turned out to be bad on their own ways. Only Yoyong is left on this list that i want to be retired. Though i wanted Ferdie and Gener to be also retired since they were already destructive in 2016 and 2012 respectively

@@kyle9331 yeah Yasmin, not used in 2017 but was close (2017 ended with Vinta, 2 names shy). I would love to see the Tres Marias (term i use for the first three names of the list ending with ing; Auring, Bising and Crising) got retired since they are the most overused names, with Auring being the first PAGASA name to be ever used back in 1963 as well as Bising in the 1960s. These storms were at one point devastating especially in the case of Auring. Next uear i would like the names Auring, Bising, Crising, Wilma and Zoraida go. In Wilma’s case, it was the storm that preceded Yolanda 5 days before it made its tragic landfall and Zoraida followed as well 4 days later, Wilma is also one of the most intense storms in the Atlantic, so in those context i woulld like it to get retired. Zoraida is the nickname of my aunt and also, was memorable in 2013 after it impacted the visayas and mindanao area just days after Yolanda. The names Dante, Emong and Maring also dodged retirement several times

Storm names used in What-Should-Be universe: Neoguri, Rammasun, Chataan, Halong, Nakri, Fengshen, Kalmaegi, Fung-wong, Karasu, Phanfone, Vongfong, Cempaka, Sinlaku, Hagupit, Jangmi, Mekkhala, Quincy, Bavi, Maysak, Haishen, Pongsona, Yanyan. Storms were named Karasu, Cempaka, and Quincy for the first time (and only in case of Karasu) after they replaced Kammuri, Rusa, and Higos after they were retired in the 2002 season. Fengshen, Karasu, and Hagupit were retired due to deaths and damage by those storms. Qiangsu and Umiushi will replace Fengshen and Karasu respectively. Shangmi and Luneta will replace Songda and Talim respectively. Choose a replacement for Hagupit by replying as well as one for Ewiniar, Shanshan, Leepi, Mangkhut, and Krosa. Remember the replacements must be associated with the following countries: Ewiniar: Micronesia Shanshan: Hong Kong Leepi: Laos Mangkhut: Thailand Krosa: Cambodia Please don't say things like "This is wrong" or anything close to it because it's unwanted!

Second was in 2011 as a powerful supertyphoon impacting Northern and central luzon as Typhoon Mina. Then third was its deadliest and costliest incarnation when it struck Japan as a severe tropical storm, causing widespread flashfloods and landslides, dealing the same damage as supertyphoon Nabi and still, it was snubbed, I am really angry at this name and i am itching for its retirement
