That is bullshit that those shops charged that kind of money and didn't fix the problem, I just started doing mobile diagnostics few years ago and if I cant 100% find the issue I don't charge a dime. Yes I have spent hours on a vehicle and not been able to fix it but I didn't charge them. Great video Sam

I grew up with points and condensers. Back then, most mechanics were not good at diagnosing/repairing electrical problems. As you show in this video, cars are much more sophisticated and complicated. And I believe the average mechanic’s skills have not grown to match. I find your videos informative and educational. I don’t need to see the wrenches, but I do want your thinking through the diagnostic process. Thank you for sharing.

There should be a law that customers can’t be charged for a repair that wasn’t successfully done.

Liked the video. I have 2009 saturn vue awd XR 3.6l v6 auto 6 speed. I'm having abs and traction lights come on at times during winter as well. Usually when roades are slippy or there is snow I'll test the awd by giving the car gas to see if wheels grip. Usually then the traction light and abs light will come on. I had the stability light come on when turning a corner. The lights stay on until I turn it off and restart it some time later. Did you ever come across this problem. The vue has 190000 kms on it now.

problems for me: missing interior parts: front dome light plastic, lumbar knob, foot lights transmission problems: 2-3 shift is hard, will take a bit for it to actually move cat was taken off cause it was too old muffler was cleaned oil is changed every 3k miles, by 2k its already black lol

This is why we test and don't guess. If u don't have the knowledge and equipment, u get both or send it to someone who does. One the point of scopes and network lines. I have ran into issues where I had 3 different modules that are used to turn on the a/c Compressor. I had communication on all the network lines but I could notget the pcm to turn the Compressor on. Threw a climate module at it didn't fix it. Ended up installing the old module and had to admit defeat.

I have a 2008 Saturn Vue, the truck is falling the transmission. I took it to the electro-mechanic they charged 900. Said they could not get the door clicker to work. said they could charge 200. It worked for a while but started to miss (transmission skipping) again and multiple dash lights came on. I went back he said the repair was out of warranty and I could pay to diagnose again. I used a blue driver scanner, cleared all the codes, and ran it for a bit. The code now is U0198 lost communication with telematic control module. I took to a repair shop they looked at and scanned the said repair would be from 1,500 to 3k. another said they don't know what was wrong. Not sure what to do next. budget is tight!

Not sure. I would need some more information. I suspect you have a power or ground problem

I can tell you that the original owner of the vehicle did not get her money back from the two incompetent shops that worked on the car is unbelievable to me. Just shows us all that common sense in not really that common. The birds nest repair at the rear with electrical tape wound is a poor repair to say the least. And using solderless terminals with low voltage is just about a ignorant as you can get. I firmly believe that if techies somehow could be taught hands on experience many of the customers would not have such a poor view of modern day mechanics. Look forward to more videos for us all to see and appreciate also. VF

I just started on an 08 vue 3.6....multiple codes, random misfires, #3 an #6 according to my autel, p1175 on bank 2, tune up cured #3, being lean on bank 2 I checked injector, ohm'd out good but notorious for clogged injectors, replace with a good known use one that was practically new, no change, did compression test 75 on first pump, 150 on 3....replaced the coil, had some oil in the hole I cleaned out when I did the plugs, no change, swapped coil and plug to different cylinder, no change....only misses at idle, no valve/lifter noise, gobs of power....you can hear a change in the motor when you unplug coil or injector....gonna pull valve cover tomorrow, had another that spit out the rocker arms before but it was noisy....maybe a broken valve spring or something...your thoughts?
