These cars, in my opinion, really started it all. They may not be the performers of today's standards but they are still quite fast, comfortable, smooth and very easy to deal with. $1500 bucks and you can have a 650 hp car easily. They are great looking and a great bang for your buck car.

Just add a whipple easy My 2009 Shelby made 444 rwhp stock 555 rwhp pulley and tune 700 rwhp whipple (gas pump very conservative tune) With drag radials you can hang with most cars out there

I owned a black on black 65' mustang 289/271 hp/4 spd car which my buddy still owns. That Mustang has evolved into this Shelby. There is one thing the 65' will do that these new mustangs can't and that is getting a thumbs up at a stop light. These newer cars will do everything better (acceleration,,braking,handling,comfort etc.) Evolution cannot be stopped. Great article Kevin.....keep em' comming. In 2008 the GT500 had 500 horse in 2020 the regular Mustang GT has 460 I love the modern horsepower Wars enjoy it boys it's a new muscle car era

sorry but a Kenne Bell Supercharger doesn't come with the car from the factory (as shown in this video), so this is a bit mis-leading. Definitely making more than 500HP. Still, the GT500 is a sweet ride stock or modified like this one. I love mine.

I have a question, have you ever seen a 1967 Pontiac GTO with a 421 cubic inch engine and 3/4 Barrel carburetors, also, headers on the exhaust system, you wouldn't believe the power the motors turning out with those three carburetors and a higher lift cam, see if you can find one you won't believe the power of the engine . because I couldn't believe it , I knew some guy who actually had one . you'll be surprised.

No car ever came with (3) 4 barrel carbs!!! If you are talking (3) 2barrel carbs well then that's different. Ford had a 390 with tri power in 1961 and it mad 401 bhp.

Won’t get far from that 267 miles on stock internals. The 03-04 cobras could handle that power but the gt500 couldn’t handle much more power than stock.

These cars are good for 750+ rwhp on stock internals. My '09 has 730 rwhp since 300 miles on it and now has 7300 miles on it and it runs great which means you don't know what you are talking about!!! Oh and bring on your 03-04 Cobras!!!

We all know that the '03-'04 cobra engines are great, but the are certainly NOT Shelby killers and stock for stock the GT500 wins.

@@bostondavedowding8167 stock for stock and $10,000 more new in 07/08 then a cobra in 03/04. Yes they are Shelby killers with very little mods. Power to weight ratio the 03/04 is a better car.

There are guys with 100K mile ported or kenne bell 03/04 cobra’s with stock internals out there. The 03/04 is basically the modern age best bang for your buck hot rod. Lots of motor in a light car.

U are right about the 03-04 cobra's internals with those h beam rods. But the 13-14 gt500's i beam rods are similar to the 07-12 gt500's.

TECHNOLOGY THE TERMINATORS HAVE BETTER INTERNALS BUT I A TERMINATOR AND A GT500 AND 2 SUPER SNAKES AND ALL 3 MAKE A LOT OF POWER BUT THE TERMINATOR TAKES A LOT MORE WORK TO TUNE IT VS THE 5.4.

I was just curious. Personally i think the 07-08 GT500’s look better. The 13-14’s just look to added onto. Both can be made very fast. I suppose it just depends on personal taste.
