This video will show you how I change my M109R engine/transmission oil. I am using one-of-a-kind oil, which is synthetic diesel engine oil in my bike. This oil put a stop to the clunky transmission on M109R 2006-2010 that many owners were complaining about. So don't fix your transmission, just use this synthetic diesel engine oil. It starts working on the first oil change!
FYI: I also use this synthetic diesel engine oil on all of my bikes that I've owned!

That bike is in great condition👍. If your clutch doesn't slip, then no problem. Detergents in Diesel oil do remove carbon but only creates a problem if there is wear in the rings, then some oil can bypass the rings. Synthetic oil can help with the gearshifts being smoother due to the nature of the oil. This makes synthetic oil unsuitable for a new engine as the rings will not "bed in", so mineral oil is better for new engine until the end of the run in period.

Thanks, yes when I got the bike, the clutch was slipping really bad. I've tried all kinds of oil on the market, but nothing seems to help until I tried the diesel engine oil and it helped and the clutch stopped slipping. I am sure that the transmission needs to be rebuilt. All good though because I had hit and run and my insurance totaled my bike 😔

@@MrBeeHS That is terrible that the bike was totalled. Such a waste! The transmissions are just clunky by nature anyway. I am thinking that there must have been contamination on the clutch plates when the clutch was slipping. The decision you made to use diesel oil with its detergents must have removed the contaminants from the clutch plates, allowing the clutch to grip properly again. Quite remarkable that you arrived at a solution, solely due to being persistent. That is a solution that would not usually be thought of. 👍

Thank you very much. Yes, it's definitely such a waste from the hit and run. But, I am getting another M109R in the future because I still love the bike. Right now, I still haven't found the right one yet, the condition and the mileage. I really don't like the new one B.O.S.S. edition because there are too many blackouts. I still love the chrome on the bike.

That oil isn’t recommended for the motor! From the manufacture
@MrBeeHS
@MrBeeHS Жыл бұрын
You are correct! It's not recommended by the manufacturer. But the manufacturer didn't make the clunking transmission as a recall. You have to pay out of your own pocket to pay them to rebuild the transmission and it's not cheap to get your transmission rebuilt. The transmission got worse when using recommended oil from the manufacturer. So in order to avoid paying lots of money to get the transmission rebuilt, I use the diesel oil to compensate with the clunky transmission. Which helps A LOT! Do you see where I am getting at? I've been using the diesel oil for the past 4 years in my M109R. Word of advice, if your transmission doesn't make that clunking noise when you change gears and it shifts smoothly, then don't use the diesel oil.

FYI, that oil is specifically designed & formulated for passenger cars & trucks that’s also likely got friction modifiers in it that over time can cause clutch slip if you bike has a wet clutch. Does your motorcycle mfg rec a light 5w-40 oil for your bike? Anyway,use proper motorcycle oil that’s specifically designed & formulated for motorcycle engines which will protect it better then the avg pass car oil can. You can’t get proper motorcycle specific oil from for example Spectro,Brad Penn Grade-1,Valvoline,Castrol etc.

Thank you for your input, that is very good information you got and you are correct! Oil for vehicles and motorcycles have different additives in them.....BUT.....for Suzuki M109R is a different case, especially for the year model from 2006-2010. If you own one between those years like I do. You will know that those years have clunky transmission. They didn't make it into a recall. Suzuki started making improvements 2011 and up. Also I wanted to note that Suzuki did called for synthetic oil 10W-40. I've tried different kinds of oil and the worst one was Mobil 1 4T and for the V-Twin and it made my clutch slip as well. I am telling you from my experience. I've been using this synthetic diesel oil for over 4 years now, 2 years in my M109R, and the other 2 years in my Suzuki Bandit 600 and it ran like a champ. Thank you for a great information that you have provided.

The diesel full synthetic that I use in my M109R helped the clunking noise. You can try other full synthetic one, but don't get Mobile 1 because it will make the clunking worse(I've tried it already).

You should never replace the filter before draining the used oil . Also diesel oil have detergents that will damage your clutch . This guy is all wrong .
@MrBeeHS
@MrBeeHS Жыл бұрын
I have been using diesel oil in my M109R for over 5 years and it helps with clunking transmission (just so you know, I DO change my oil once a year!). If diesel oil ruined the clutch, it would have messed up my clutch A LONG TIME AGO! The clutch in my M109R is the ORIGINAL CLUTCH! Think about it. Also the clutch NEVER slips and it grips better than the MOTORCYCLE OIL. How did I know about this? Because I have tried many different kinds of oil that are made specific for motorcycles....wasting over $200 to find the right oil, they all fail and my clutch was slipping like crazy and the clunking got louder. So what's that telling you? If you own a M109R between that year you should know about the transmission defects. Also, you can change the oil filter before you drain the oil. There is no difference if you replace the filter first or not. There is no wrong way to replace the oil filter. You can replace it first or last, but I choose to replace it first. Just to let you know that I have an Associates Degree in Automotive.✌️

@@MrBeeHS Interesting that you use this oil, which also fulfills the "JASO MA/ MA2" standard in the description. Suzuki writes according to the service manual: „ENGINE OIL (FOR USA) Oil quality is a major contributor to your engine’s performance and life. Always select good quality engine oil. Suzuki recommends the use of SUZUKI PERFORMANCE 4 MOTOR OIL or equivalent engine oil. Use of API SF/SG or SH/SJ with JASO MA. Suzuki recommends the use of SAE 10W-40 engine oil. If SAE 10W-40 engine oil is not available, select an alternative according to the following chart. ENGINE OIL (FOR OTHER COUNTRIES) Oil quality is a major contributor to your engine’s performance and life. Always select good quality engine oil. Use of API SF/SG or SH/SJ with JASO MA. Suzuki recommends the use of SAE 10W-40 engine oil. If SAE 10W-40 engine oil is not available, select an alternative according to the right chart. In the right chart, these oil viscosities are listed according to the external climatic conditions: „10W30“, „10W40“, „10W50“, „15W40“, „15W50“ or „20W50“. It says nothing about 5W40. The manufacturer Suzuki includes these viscosities and standards in its maintenance manual for a reason, specifying when or how often the motorcycle needs to be checked. Your 5W40 diesel oil may feel good to you, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s also good for your motorcycle. Do you live somewhere where it gets extremely cold? Wouldn't it have been better if you had used an oil from Suzuki? Perhaps "Suzuki ECSTAR R5000-10W40"? What about "Louis-Öl 10W40" or "RAVENOL RACING 4-T MOTOBIKE SAE 10W-40" or "POLO VISCOIL 4T TEILSYN. 10W-40"? I wish you a continued accident-free ride and many wonderful experiences with your Suzuki.

@dennismundt7378 I know right? The accidents happened even though you are extremely careful on the motorcycle. It's just one of those days that you just can't avoid the accident. My next motorcycle will be another M109R, but it'll be a new model. Right now I still couldn't find a good deal on the bike and the condition that I wanted. Most of the used motorcycles here are modified by its owners and I don't like that at all. I like the motorcycle to be unmodified and stock.....bone stock. Your research on the engine oil is correct and some oil is available here in the US and some aren't. If you are getting the oil from the Suzuki dealership....good luck on that because they sell them very expensive. Which I won't pay my money for the oil. I am just waiting for the right deal to come along to get another M109R. I just fell in love with the bike, very powerful and sporty.

@@MrBeeHS If you buy an M109R as a new vehicle, please don’t forget about the oil types and the manufacturer’s warranty provisions. You wouldn’t want your motorcycle warranty to be voided due to using the wrong oil for a different issue. In the USA, there are ‘Motorex USA’ and ‘Spectro Performance Oils.’ ‘Spectro Performance Oils’ is also part of ‘Motorex USA’ and promotes compliance with all specifications and smooth gear shifts. You can check their online shops to find the right oil types. Wishing you happy holidays!

This oil will burn the clutches. Seconed gear requires some learning but can be mastered in a short amount of time. This guy is way off course. Stick with mobil one 20-50 v twin

That's not the real reason my friend. 2nd gears ALREADY like that, it's not required learning. I've been riding for 10 years my friend. AND I already use different kind of oil out there that you can described. It's what you called experiment with oil that can help with bad transmission. If you watch the whole video you'll find out that I have been using that oil for at least 3 years and no clutch slipping at all as the matter of fact, it gripped even better than the oil that you've been using.
