Mak ... I bought a 2009 Mercury Mariner 3.0 V6 with 122K on it last Dec. I noticed it stalled on me a couple times and doing some research I thought it may be the Idle Air Control Valve but after doing a more research I found out that the second gen (09 to 12) it is built in the throttle body thus me watching this video. One more thing the symptoms is it only will stall at an idle in gear or not in gear ... and I noticed the warmer the weather the more it stalls ... it barely did it in the cold months. It will always start right back up and never had an issue while driving down the road. So I got a new Ford throttle body and did the change like you show. I did the reset for the PCM. Got it all back together and did the restart to let it idle and 10 minutes into the idle process the engine stalled! Restarted it and ran for about 5 minutes and stalled! After about 20 minutes of idle I drove it and when I came to a stop it stalled ... it did this a couple times. Pulled into the driveway and put it in park running and after a couple minutes it stalled. No check engine lights and nothing on the code reader. Do you have any idea what may be causing this. When the engine is running it runs smooth and idles about 700 rpm.

Update ... Mak I come across a video with the exact same symptoms that I am having (Ford Fusion Stalling at Idle) video. So, he is saying it's a low-pressure sensor, but this is on a 2014 Ford Fusion. Thought this would be the fix but I do not see a low-pressure sensor anywhere on my 2009 Mercury Mariner 3.0 V6 fuel line and the only thing I could find out was there is only a fuel pressure regulator in the fuel pump itself ... would you think this would cause the same issue? (Only stalls at idle in drive or in neutral.) other than that runs fine! Thanks!

This is also common issue on the Ford focus 07 and up..... I just did the same thing a few weeks ago. Clean the throttle body. Clean the air intake box. and also clean your battery cable if they are corroded. This made motor and transmission both happy. Stopped crazy transmission shifts ....

Do you know what’s the problem ? And also when I’m driving it sometime stops the speed by itself and start vibrating.. I want to seriously thank you for the vido, I've had my check Engin light on for a long time, then my 2010 ford escape 2.5 xlt started stalling on me and the idel was all messed up, I brought her in multiple times and my mechanic kept changing all kinds of sensors really the mass air flow sensor and few other valves....well it kept on doing it so I took to the internet and started doing my own research and found your video, against every body's suggestions I went ahead and changed out the electric throttle body myself and I am very pleased to say it's been over 200 miles no lights the truck is definitely running better it's fantastic. Thank you for making this video! Mine didn't fail, but it was extremely dirty, so I cleaned it with some carburetor cleaner. Now I can accelerate normally without surging in 1st gear.

I was having the same problem. I looked into it and realized that Ford had a recall on their vehicles for this specific reason, so if you are having this problem take your vehicle to your local Ford dealer and they will fix/replace it for free.

Thanks for helping out! Did this job on a '10 hybrid. The relearn process is different. The vehicle idled normal right way. A little low idling, but not much. The car doesn't heat up unless under load as the computer is always trying to cut the ICE off and go into EV mode.

Great video and information on the throttle body. I just replaced mine and finished the test drive. Only issue I have encountered is after i pulled into my driveway, I put the car in park. I slightly tapped the accelerator pedal and my RPM's went up to 2000, came down to 1500, back up to 2000, back down to 1500, then came down to around 900. Did not experience any surging during my test drive.

great video very helpful. will disconnecting the battery on a 2011 fusion v6 3.0 SE flex fuel reset my pcm and relearn my throttle body because I think it is causing my car stall in-between 40mph and 60mph. I replaced the spark plugs fuel pump maf sensor and this is the third throttle body in a year and a half from the dealer.

First driving lesson with my son, switch sides, hose blew out while he was driving in the parking lot, his comment was “it’s funny how they make these cars so much easier to go than to stop“, when we switched back I was like holy moly WTF lol! Front left, brake fluid everywhere, still had consistent pedal so babied it home, stopped at the car parts store on the way and picked up a set of all four hoses, replaced them the literal next day. The other three looks just as bad as the one that blew. Easy brake job btw.

What could cause a tick from the intake boot next to the throttle body. It’s not oil pressure or valve related. Sounds and feels like a sensor. 2012 ford escape 4cyl non-hybrid

The fuel needle on my 2012 Ford Escape was reading E although the tank was full. The dealer diagnosed the problem and suggested that I change the "fuel sender connector" (at an estimated cost of $700). Since I had already spent $100 for the diagnosis, I had a friend look at it (the "sender" is just below the back seat on the driver's side, and easily reached by flipping up the backseat)). He gave it a few shakes and the needle is once more working perfectly (2 weeks now). Could this be an electrical problem? Or some sort of shortage?

Hi FordTechMakuloco, the replacement part you recommend and that you linked to on Amazon is "DS7Z-9E926-D." The part I received from that link has a sticker on it that reads "DS7E-9F991-AJ." Is there any way to verify that the "AJ" part is OK to use instead of the "D" part? Should I return the "AJ" part and keep trying to find the "D" part? I chose the highest rated seller at that link, so I'm wondering if the "D" part is even available anymore. The Amazon page and the part box still show the "D" part number. Thanks.

There is an extended warranty (10 year 150k miles) for the throttle body, just take it to your ford service and have it replaced for free under an hour. Great video still!!

hi, I really appreciate the info that you provide, it is very helpful; I have an Escape 2010, the engine blew and I had it replaced; after it was replaced it began shaking when idling at a light or just not accelerating; I took it to the mechanic and he said it was the gas pump,I replaced the gas pump, then the ETB, also the Air flow reader (or something like that) and the coils, and it has new spark plugs, and still it continues with the shaking; it does not do it when in Neutral; do yo have any suggestion? thank you in advance, HH

Had trans leak in the condenser and jumping rpm when idle would drop escape would surge fixed the condenser first so when I relearned the throttle body I could let it learn on load also drove fine for a week today idle jumped stalled out on me twice got it to parts store for a obd reading shoot 02sensor code bank 1 and 2 both sides sensor one never had a irregular idle and stall for a 02 sensor gonna check for a vacuum and exhaust leak any advise

Hi could the Throttle body cause vehicule stalling in highway? And 10 seconds before vehicle stalls speed indicator go down to 0 speed while in highway? For speed indicator i think the instrument cluster is fine because when i start the car all needles do the right left swipe and the speed indicator problem happened 2 days ago before stalling while in highway too with needle go to 0 and odometer stop counting milage. Check out Ford “Customer Satisfaction Program 13N03-Supplement #2. This 13N03 isn’t a recall but the dealer will replace the throttle body at “no cost to the customer” according to the supplement. This CSP 13N03 also describes the “Wrench Light” and what it means.

This plug for the throttle body looks very similar to the plug for my 2011 f150 5.0. I couldn't figure out how to unplug so I left it plugged in and moved the throttle body off to the side. I had to do this to take off the Y connector hose I was replacing hose seals for the quick release hoses. My question is this the same way you would remove nthe plug for my model year?

I have a 2012 Ford Escape 2.5L with 119k miles. There is a bad vibration when I sit at stop light in drive. Gets a little worse when air conditioning is on. But if I'm at the stop light and shift to neutral or park then there is no vibration. It seems the more load at idle at stop light then the worse the vibration. I have changed the two motor mounts. Still vibrates. I have changed spark plugs. Still vibrates. It has something to do with the idle (electronic throttle body?) because if I barely increase the RPM at stop light in drive then the vibration starts to go away. Any suggestions would be helpful as to what is the next part I should change.

My mom has a 2011 Escape and it dies when she comes to a stop. Starts and runs just fine and starts back up without problems. Also of note, it doesn't stall out if you shift it to Neutral before stopping. Any idea what it could be? I thought it might have been low trans fluid or torque converter but she said it has an electric trans. Maybe clogged pcv valve or fuel system issue?

I have an 07 f150. 4.2L with an electronic throttle body and am assuming the process is the same for the relearning process. Can you please confirm this for me and tell me what equipment if any that I need to do the relearn. In addition, I ohm'd the pins for the pot in mine for the feedback and did a sweep check on it and it went open several times during, this is what is making me think the TPS in the electronic throttle body is the problem

The part you list indicates it will work on both the 2.5L 4-cyl and the 3.0 six. Does that make sense? Advance Auto sells a Dorman throttle body for about $350. Yours seems to be an OEM Ford part for less than $60!

I have a 2013 Escape. Ford maintenance says the throttle body needs to be cleaned. I would rather do it myself than pay the $150. Is the removal essentially the same in the 2013 as it is with your above video? Ours is a 2.5 liter, S model. Thank you in advance.

Any suggestions on what I should do next? No check engine light or wrench light came on. About a month ago I was having issues with the "check fuel inlet" and watched a few of your videos and the check engine light has not came on since. Could the canister purge valve have anything to do with this? I was going to change it but did not as that problem seemed to have gone away.
