Haha I remember this game! Refused to watch the lions after the 0-16 season, but would always stop and watch juuuuust a little of each game. Seeing Stafford and Calvin Johnson along with Jim Schwartz actually gave me hope, and this game was flat out incredible.

It was the Sunday before Thanksgiving actually if you take note of how there were other games going on during this game. Also I believe the NFL blackout rules caused this game to not air for the local market for the Detroit Lions because the rules stated, "...that a home game cannot be televised in the team's local market if all tickets are not sold out 72 hours prior to its start time" and due to the Lions' record at the time (especially since they came off of a 0-16 record the season prior) and the fact they are playing a team that are just as bad as them, I doubt the tickets were all sold. Though since 2015 the blackout rules have been suspended.

For a game between two bad teams that year it was very entertaining
@mariofan7947 жыл бұрын
I think a game between two really bad teams can sometimes be as entertaining to watch as a game between two really good teams. Like just this year, Dolphins-Chargers, the Giants-Buccaneers game, Colts-Bengals, and Jets-Dolphins (in Miami) were all some pretty fun games to watch.

Two 1-8 teams; I'll notice right away within the 1st series how much better everyone on the field here is compared to the 2019 Oklahoma @ Baylor game Im about to press play on.

This was the best NFL game in history that nobody outside of Ohio or Sunday Ticket was able to see live. Brady Quinn could've been nice in the NFL on a better team. Jim Schwartz, Calvin Johnson, and Matthew Stafford finally got the Lions out of the dark ages of the 2000s with Matt Millen. Lions should've never fired Schwartz in 2013 he was getting them closer and closer to a Super Bowl every season.

Finally put the game on; after 5 months of watching 70 or so college games. WOW. Everyone is so good. I knew I had to start with the worst 2 teams. But it's so crazy how every NFL team ran the same offenses; old NFL is like watching Wisconsin, Stanford, Notre Dame, and like, 2012 SEC play eachother over and over and over. If you don't know CFB you think the schemes of old NFL is the 'right' way. And everyone else is doing 'gimmicks'. "It's a different game" Says people who don't watch it. It's the same game. Same rules. They just had coaches with the courage to invent ways of winning in an unfair system. NFL has the same shot at talent; it's fair as can be. So why run schemes that depend on being better then the opponent at every position?

That sure was an interesting play call, second to last offensive play by the Browns before halftime. Guess they were trying to get a TD. At least that is way better than this season (2017) in which the Browns went for a quarterback sneak from the two yard line, failed and the clock ran out so they got no points on that last drive before halftime!!! Very questionable call.

24:12 The 2009 Browns as of week 11; scored only 8.7 Points PER GAME!! Brutal! www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/cle/2009.htm Leave it to the lions, to make me admire this Iformation play action offense; like wow, so effective! The Lions D; they're blitzing every single down because Schwartz hates his Front 4. This works; to force incompletes, while also leading to 70 yard TD's on play action. The secondary couldn't cover on a play with only TWO targets. Love ya Lions.
