2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 Review - With Custom Widebody & Manual Transmission!

Nowadays everybody seems to have the new toys, and it seems like there are new Challengers out almost every year one upping the next - first the Hellcat in 2015, the Demon for 2018, the Hellcat Redeye for 2019, and most recently the Super Stock for 2021. This vehicle was the one that helped paved the way for all of those, the 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 with the 6-speed manual. This vehicle spec (B5 Blue, Manual Transmission, No Sunroof) also happens to be a 1 of 93 build for the US and 1 of 5 for Canada! Ahhh memorieees.... back in 2011 i had the privilege of picking up a 2009 Challenger SRT8 in Brilliant Black (not a good color for central Texas) from a guy who was selling it on ebay for just north of $32K. It only had 7 miles on it as he had garaged it shortly after purchasing it brand new back when the Big 3 auto companies were going bankrupt (well, not ford) he figured that even if Dodge survived the financial crisis that there was no way that they would continue to manufacture these gas guzzling behemoths (gas was nearing $4/ gallon at that time) and so it would be a good collector's car. Needless to say, Dodge got bailed out and so his wife got tired of looking at his "pet car" in the garage and ordered him to get rid of it. I got a sweet deal on the car that i had literally been dreaming about for years and he got a happier marriage. It was a win-win.

I have an 09 srt8 in Hemi orange. Unfortunately mines is automatic. But I still love the thing. Put headers, a cam , and even a shaker 😂😂 sounds like a bomb . I get a lot of compliments don’t really see that many srt8. Hoping they become collectibles since they will stop making SRTs

Great Video! I had this exact same car in Torred as 2010 model and it was my best car to date! These 6.1 cars are often under estimated but I never lost a street match and still had a hard time hooking with only 420lbs of torque! #moparornocar #6.1hemilife #manualcarsrule

Did you fill in the hole on the side marker flair and paint it because the flair they sale doesn't not fit the 2008 to 2014 challenger they suggest to a buy a newer model bumper to fit exacted but don't want to go that route what did you do... to get it to look like that

one major thing with these cars is that the fuel tank is only like 19 gallons. pair that with a big hemi and you can almost see it drain in real time haha

Paint on v the fenders are different and need wide tires. Change the front bumper. Slide different from each other

I’ve found a 2009 challenger srt8 with 189,000 miles for $15000 third party dealer runs great, everything works . Am I stupid to think about it 😅 or is it worth it and have the engine rebuilt? Car looks very well kept, clean Title, original parts, clean inside and out .

Funny how black is the predominant color throughout the years for the Charger and Challenger. People love the B5 Blue, Plum Crazy Purple, Billet Silver, etc, but a visit to the Dodge dealership yields more cars in black and white versus other colors. Why is that? I'm thinking B&W are easier colors to mass produce. But then you wind up with a bunch of lookalike vehicles. I guess it doesn't matter so long as you can get your dream ride right away instead of waiting for it to be built and painted in a different color. Personally, if I couldn't find a Challenger or Charger in the right color with the right options, I'd be willing to wait for it to be built.

I agree look down any street and all you see is a mass of Black white and silver. I would hate to have a car in one of those generic colors. Like you said I may settle on a dream car fast if there was more of those colors but I would definitely wrap it right away to something that stands out more!

I made a video on this a while back “Why the Charger Doesn’t Get an MT”. My reasons were: 1: Physical Limitations (floor pan is different on the auto and needs to be totally reworked on the Charger and then crash tested - big job. 2: Chrysler predicted a low demand for MT for Charger buyers and didn’t want to offer it (I think they were wrong but idk, whole ‘sedan’ thing right)

I have found the other way around, the 6.1 is much more reliable than the 6.4 with less electronic devices to plage it, and can make much more power under boost
