Old video, but good. Man it's crazy to think about how much horsepower these smaller engines make compared to larger displacement engines from the 80s and 90s. I'm glad to see turbos becoming more mainstream. Even with no turbo the 250hp HO v6 is no slouch, that's like 80s 5.0 v8 numbers. I have an AWD Magnum with the 3.5, no mods at all and it pulls just like my old 92 Camaro Z28 with a 5.7l in it. Other than the fact that it's not RWD it feels like exactly the same amount of power. That's insane to me. My old Camaro was fast as fuck back in the day. I owned it in like 96/97 and it was still smoking most cars. Just a decade later a damn 3.5l v6 can put out that much power! I'd like to see gas burners continue to evolve, I hope they let us keep some around after the big switch to electric.

A 2009 Challenger vs a Ecoboost Mustang is no race at all. A 2016 Ecoboost Mustang might give a stock v8 Challenger a good race.

slc9800gtx aside from the fact that it's a 7-year difference between the model years, the current 3.6L Pentastar is vastly superior to the old 3.5 except for exhaust tone. Even so, a boosted 4 is gonna outrun a NA V6 every time. Even my 1.4T Dart beats standard V6s.

After watching and rewinding this video several times. I've come to the conclusions, that the Dodge Charger Driver's street driving is not up to par. Nothing personal, just strictly observations made. 1) You had the Mustang ECO beat even after he left first (4:56) then (5:01) you gave up due to you watching your redline, and to whether or not another car was going to be approaching over the top of the hill in your lane. 2) you had your gearshift in D instead of manually shifting from low first , low second and then finally D. I guarantee the Dodge V6 would have won. At (7:06) the Dodge V6 is already at 99mph. At (5:26) to (5:33) the Mustang is just getting to 60 mph, that's 7 seconds in between. Not to mention his first gear changed at 40mph. At (5:38) to (5:42) is 4 seconds in between and the Dodge V6 does not come out of first until 80mph. I did like the Video very much and it is well worth the time I spent viewing it several times. Now we all have to wait for two different stock vehicles (Mustang ECO and Charger V6 without the exhaust mod) to perform this same race. I can't wait!

Sound wise, your charger ftw, but that boosted 4cyl is on another level in every other category..that Ecoboost is literally only a bama, or Lund racing tune, a pulley, & a down pipe away from adding well over 100 WHEEL foot pounds of torque to it

Robotic Venom, Sorry, but no way I’d choose a 3.5L 250hp/250tq 3800lb Charger over a 15-18 310hp/320tq 3520lb 4cyl mustang, unless I actually needed the extra room the Charger offers. Hell truthfully I wouldn’t even take the 305hp/270tq 3.6L pentastar V6 Over That boosted 4cyl. It’s way to easy to make the 4cyl mustang a quick car with inexpensive FBO’s, & a tire.

Ford's 90's performance lineup are all around 7.1-7.5 seconds 0-60. Taurus SHO, Thunderbird SC, Probe GT, Mustang GT, F-150 lightning. The last Fox Cobra could do sub 6 seconds. I actually saw all of these at a dealership in one visit back in the day. Can you imagine that! 3rd gen Camaro is an 8.0 sec 0- 60, 305 with ATX. Charger wins on sound though.

Ford has brought back the SVO Mustang. There was a test like this back in the day with a Shelby Charger 2.2 against a SVO. Results were much different in which the Charger won. Also let it be known the Shelby Charger had a better 0-6o time than the Corvette and Mustang GT.

It’s quite sad that these cars are so new compared to the older mustang GT models and yet my boyfriends 98 mustang GT with some mods like 2002 GT heads with the cams and a cold air intake with a pi intake with long tube headers and a solid run would be able to beat both of these cars easily. These aren’t that fast of cars for the price that comes with them.

stryker942 compared to other V6s and even it's successor, the 3.5 does sound pretty good. I agree that it is slow though. Every NA V6 is. The only hope these things have on a 4000lbs+ platform is with AWD and even then, you need boost.
