2009 Ford Escape Hybrid - high voltage battery was below minimum voltage needed to start the car. Removed battery cover and used existing wiring connected to leads on charger to start.

Thanks man! I did purchase an extension cord and cut it in half. I cut the gray and black connectors and hard wired the extension cord so next time, i just plug the charger. No more unbolting the plate!

One suggestion: Only charge the HVTB to 310-315 volts. That is enough to get the car started. You can damage the battery cells by fully charging them with the HVTB's cooling system not operating. At the very least, have large fans blow on the open pack.

Anything special about taking the "lid" off? Only the bolts holding down the cover?

There are bolts on the side that are difficult to get to without removing the plastic trim on the sides, and the fasteners are security torx t30 I believe.

hi there are two orange cables how do you know which one is positive and negative

Looks like you'll need a voltmeter. Mark the negative lead with a black Sharpie so you'll know for next time.
