That was great; I don't know how the judges could choose between so many talented -and diverse- Charleston dancers showing off. Awesome to everybody!

I see a lot of complaining in the comments section about this being a bastardisation of the original dance, but i really don't see the problem. These guys are just having a good time. Who cares if it's not exactly according to the way it was originally intended. Things change, deal with it.

+barely a pun Haters gonna hate. My kids are now into dance after watching these videos. A great quote from Gregory Hines: "How did all the greats learn their moves? We steal them...change them up and make it ours..."

And you probably won't unless you buy the four disc Kid Ory & His Creole Jazz Band - Live at the Beverly Cavern 1949 Radio Transcription. There's actually two recordings of "That's A Plenty" on that collection, and both of which I'd imagine would be darned difficult to find anywhere else. I bought it a while back, and I most certainly recommend it for similar style music.

Do you have a swing club in your area? If so, they usually give lessons and they might be able to teach you some of this stuff. Otherwise, just try imitating videos like this - a lot of those moves are easier than they look! And since my local swing club tends to focus on lindy hop and blues dance, I learn a lot of my charleston moves from KZbin videos like this, and there are some videos out there too that actually walk you through some steps. Good luck, and have fun!
@GrandMasterMaceo12 жыл бұрын
Basic 1920s Charleston is just: Tap step, step, tap step, step. Rather easy really. It's just styling and which other solo jazz moves you throw into it which make it grand.
@Maelthorn133711 жыл бұрын
Came to this after watching a competition with a modern style of dancing. Every one was so aggressive and poorly mannered, like the two were just trying to make each other angry, I much prefer this. Everyone's happy and impressed with each other rather than trying to show each other up; they just love dancing.

It doesn't matter what race you are to be a "better" dancer, or dance better, and no not all black people are "normally" the ones that dance better but still, they all were good. I'm black myself but honestly think everyone is good.
