2009 Mercedes-Benz W204 C200 Part 29 - Rear number plate holder

The 3rd advisory on the MoT was the rear number plate. When I first got the car it had a private plate (S5 ETD) which unfortunately ended up going on the previous owner's replacement car (I only found this out when I first tried to tax the car and ended up with the orignal registration number - BJ58 NCV). I had new plates made up by Champion Motor Spares in Bradford. The front plate was fitted without any problems but the rear plate was a problem and I ended up securing it with sticky tape and this got picked up as an advisory come MoT time. I finally managed to get some number plate holders on eBay and fitting it was a bit of a stuggle as the screws to secure the holders were fighting me. I ended having to tap the threads in the rivnut to M11 and I found a matching set of screws of the same thread in my stash of hardware. The holder was then fitted without any further problems and the job was successfully completed.

Hi there. I recently left a comment on a post regarding the corsa 2004 you worked on. I need to change my rocker arms and tappets and see you have cable tied the chain to the sprockets. Do I just do this then undo the bolt holding the cam in place then slide it out or is there anything else I need to do to stop sprocket from falling down

Cable ties will keep it all in place when you separate the sprocket from the camshaft. It saves having to remove the timing chain and having to retime the engine. A nice simple shortcut.
