2009 Mitsubishi Montero Sport GLS-V 1Din Stereo Removal, 2Din Android Car Head Unit Stereo Installed

In this video we remove a 1din car stereo and install a 2din Android Carputer/Head unit. We also install a cubby to replace single din deck, gps, bakcup/reverse camera, connect to headrest monitors and then test and configure. We offer thoughts on the product and procedure.

Jonas Tan I found that you can have that info displayed using an OBD2 scanner and a program like Torque running on the head unit.

I don't know.. Someone else proposed adding a tablet as a head unit, then I think you could keep your original hardware in place. You could also just use a single din unit with pop out screen. Aftermarket OBD2 scanners are inexpensive, $15 or less. I just don't know where you would put the hardware if you do it the way I did it in the video.

Regarding the wheel control, if you're removing your stock radio, your control unit may still be there. I've had to purchase an aftermarket control interface by PAC. Did the technician that installed your headunit said something about what the wireless receiver for steering wheel control look like? I have mine replaced with android HU too but on wheel control not working too even after changing battery. I have the stock 1din HU though and would like to know where is the wireless receiver. @@ajjamal7542 the unit is up to you. I wanted what is called dual zone, movie in back, navigation up front. Do your research, as to reliability, etc. Like most systems, more RAM, better. I frankly don't see a need for optical/DVD anymore because movie downloads. I'm researching a new thing I want to do, and it's a mobile WiFi media server, so everyone in the car can be served a unique media stream. I'll post when I configure, it will likely be a DiY build.

Hey MonteroGuy just installed an eonon on my 2009 but having issues with fit, the head unit wont fit on the fascia all the way. Was it the same case as yours? Did jun have to do any modification to the fascia? Would really appreciate any feedback, thanks advance.

Bought it in manila. Doesnt have a brand name. I have to find someone who can modify it. Probably just needs a little sanding

mark ong does the fascia you bought in Manila look the same as the modified fascia I show in this video? Mine didn't fit that well. I had to do some fileing of the corners. Some of the fit problems had to do with the alignment of the head unit in the facia as well. I filed material off the facia because of the way the head unit was originally installed, then had the head unit installed differently and the fascia fit better. The better fit made it look like I filed too much material off. Anyways, I discuss the filing and fit with my first head alignment in one of my videos. If not this one, it's another.

MonteroGuy i believe its this video you mentioned about modifying the fascia. Did you do the modifications to fit better yourself? The fascia i bought looks exactly the same as yours, fits on the dash pretty good just the android head unit doesnt go all the way in 😭.

I also had to remove some plastic in the back of the head unit compartment to allow the unit to go all the way in. And yes, did the work myself.

Andy Salinas sorry late reply. I used a Boison stereo, Model (add later) . It's a generic Android device running Android 4.4.2, I believe. The stereo had been working so far. There are more powerful units on the market now (faster prices, more RAM, newer OS), but I may still do a review on this unit soon. I've added a couple of amps and new speakers and I'm looking forward to sharing that with people.
