@4wdivesafari4 ай бұрын
IMO if you can’t deal with a few bugs then you should avoid android, though I’m primarily an apple user so may def be some pebcak. Mine is installed in 4WD tourer and constantly running KZbin music and Exploroz mapping. Both are a tiny bit buggy but easy enough to deal with. I hate the inbuilt google maps with a vengeance (maybe customised by Teyes), it’s different from google maps on my iPhone and very glitchy to the point of being unusable. I also don’t like that I can’t customise the Home Screen the way I want to. The inbuilt music player is useless but I can’t replace it (on Home Screen) with YTM. Found an app that lets me replace the google map with something else but Exploroz is not supported, so the Home Screen is pretty well useless to me.

Thank you so much for your content! One thing that I really wish the world new is what the analog RCA output voltages are. This is the one area in which these Android head units are typically weak... they have between 1.5v and 2.2 volt RCA outs... and this just makes it a no-go for most people in the Sound Quality world. Is there any way you can include this in your reviews? It would be a game changer for a whole lot of us, I assure you!

(Speaking from personal experience) Whilst the CC3 2K has a wonderful looking display and an immensely powerful SOC, depending on which applications would wish to use, you'll have issues with Teyes having deliberately locked down certain elements of the OS (this applies to the latest stock firmware as of today's date which is 9th Sept 2024). CONS: 1. For no good reason that I can fathom, you CAN install any launcher you want, it WILL run BUT even if you use your chosen launcher to set it as the system 'default' launcher, as and when you restart/reboot the head unit, it will reset to the Teyes launcher regardless of the change you made earlier. Basically Teyes offers various 'add on' bits of software, some of which you need to pay for if you want to add them, so I suspect this approach is intended to try and drive additional revenue 2. For no good reason that I can fathom, you CAN install any NAV app you want, the nav app WILL run once manually launched BUT unless it's one that's on a very short whitelist, it will NOT show up as an option when you try to change the system 'default' nav app (The Tom Tom Go app is one of the apps that is affected by this restriction). This isn't the end of the world but there are scenarios in real world usage where this arbitrary restriction because a real pain in the bottom 3. A few other minor 'quality of life/usability' issues that can grate over time i.e. when the unit is in regular use PROS: 1. The display is sharp and wonderfully saturated i.e. easy on the eyes 2. The unit is VERY quick and seldom feels 'sluggish' (I'm coming for a 4GM RAM, PX5 Xtrons unit that served me well for a few years) 3. Once the correct canbus box/model is selected, I was able to correctly program the various steering wheel buttons to exactly the actions I wanted AND the head unit correctly responds to things like me turning on the sidelights/headlights and the head unit then lowering the brightness to the level I set for 'night' (this is something I was never able to get working on my previous PX5 unit) 4. The firmware seems to be pretty stable (by the standards of Android head units) i.e. no application lock ups yet or need to restart the head unit to bring an app/functionality back to life I can definitely recommend the 'CC3 Vincent Vega Edition' custom firmware, it's only 10 Euro (with ongoing free updates) and it addresses the above points, as well as making a large number of addtional improvements. Similar in principle to Hal9x v4 on MTCD/E head units, which I also used for years on my previous PX5 head unit). Overall I'd recommend the CC3 2K BUT only with the customised firmware installed. (hopefully someone will find the information above at least vaguely useful!)

One of the first head units I remember like these was the Parrot Asteroid Mini. I had one in my car back in 2016 and it was absolutely great; I had all of the apps that were available on Google Play store and had the TORQ application with a bluetooth OBDII transmitter that would send live data to the app and would even display it as digital gauges. Sadly, Parrot shifted its primary focus on drones for military/LEO and no longer make any variant of the Asteroid Mini.

Thanks for this video. I choose a joying 11" head unit specific to my 18 jeep wrangler. The hardest part of the installation was the cameras, mounting and wire runs. But some sad news. Driving around town, yesterday the head unit went dead. Had a bunch of warning lights go off on the dash(most concerning was the airbag light) then blank screen, no sound. Trouble shooting revealed no loose wires and good fuses (both head unit and vehicle). Only one month of use, doa, $600. I think anyone choosing a head unit should think long and hard about what your going to do, if you have problems. Their is a definite language barrier and your a world away from help. I will bench trouble shoot this, I am almost positive that the canbus adapter is the cause. I am replacing it with a PAC version to see. BTW I love what this head unit can do, and want it to work. I'll update if I figure it out.😮

This video was very helpful to me. I’ve been looking at stereo vids for a couple of days now. Really like the look of the Android head units. One thing I never see (and can’t find info on) is AM/FM reception (dBf). I mostly listen to Sirius/Pandora/TuneIn but there are times when I actually enjoy terrestrial radio. The aftermarket units I’ve tried (Pioneer, Jensen, and JVC) have all SUCKED in comparison to the stock radio. It’s actually annoying enough that I have pulled the aftermarket radios and put in the original just to get better reception. 😢 Oh, and I'm not a fan of RDS station names. I can just as easily recall which station plays what using the digital numbers. It would, in fairness, be nice for the RDS - AND - the station number to be displayed simultaneously. Win-win for all.

The Desaita unit for a 2017 Toyota Rav 4 Hybrid was recommended by GTA Car Kits, when I was looking for options. In terms of the canbus units are they all similar? Dasaita Android13 Car Stereo for Toyota RAV4 2013-2018 LHD Wireless Carplay & Android Auto Car Radio | Qualcomm 665 | 10.2" QLED Screen | Wifi+4G LTE | 6G+64G | DTS|GPS Navigation Head Unit | Optical Output Would I be better off going with one of the ones you shortlisted in the 2023 review? Appreciate the feedback

The Dasaita head units I have reviewed have simply not been good enough to be on this list yet, mainly due to the lack of value for money. They were expensive and didn't have the hardware specification to justify the price. I actually have one of their new flagship units on the way, so we'll see if it gets onto the 2024 list

really loved your review of head units, but what about loom compatibility with these? do you need connects2 adapters (Fiat Ducatto campervan replacing 'Unconnect Sat Nav')

Hello, first of all I would like to thank you for the interesting and informative Android radio test. Regarding the display brightness, as needed in convertible cars with the roof open, which 10" Android radio would you recommend? Thank you very much.

Thanks for your comment! So helpful as I’m an iPhone user. I should get an FYT one yes? I’ll look into it. It needs to be a stable connection for the customers to connect to in the minibus I drive. What would you recommend for around £250? $320 thank you

Nice review, I've been watching all of these head units and I see that most have RCA inputs. I am looking for a new screen that can replace the DENSO screen on the 2011 Land Rover Discovery 4 with Harman-Kardon but I haven't found if some of these that you reviewed would fit my Disco4, and what modifications in the cables I'll have to be doing. Got any tips?

What do you recommend for an older single din vehicle? Not got a massive amount of money but after something decent. Looking through the list I've struggled to find single din
@SaabUnleashed Жыл бұрын
Depends if you can have a floating screen. Joying and Atoto both have single din with floating screens

Great information. Can you recommend who makes the best drop in unit with proper trim for a 2014 Jaguar XKR? I could not find one from the companies mentioned here.

When you say "already compatible with steering wheel controls" does that mean without anything extra on the Saab 93 (2008 for me)? I know that before we had to buy the "Connects2" stuff...which is getting to be harder to find for USA based Saab lovers heh. Great vids as usual!!
@SaabUnleashed Жыл бұрын
No no, you still need the connects2 decoder

@saabunleashed can you comment on which of these may be preferrable for integration with a 2006 9-3 (currently has the ICM2)? I have seen some of your older videos on that subject, but wondered how these newer units worked in that regard. My initial preference would be to integrate in the dash (remove the ICM2 but not have the stick out tiltable screen). I could be pursuaded otherwise :-) But having audio steering wheel controls would be a nice plus. Not worrying at this point about backup camera etc.Thanks so much for your great content!
