Trindon Holliday becomes the third LSU Tiger in four years, and the second LSU football player, to win the men's 100 meter crown. In doing so, he matched his PR of 10.00 set the heats. However, his actual finishlynx time was 9.991, which means that he missed joining the sub-10 club by just 0.001 seconds or 3/8ths of an inch.

I love how in every single race Holliday is in, the announcers always give the edge to someone else.

Just looked up his stats. Best 100 m time is 9.98. That's CRAZY fast for a guy who's only 5'5". For comparison, Usain Bolt got 9.58, but happens to be 6'5". That extra foot probably makes a big difference, as that means Bolt's legs are probably at least 6" longer, if not 7", 8", or more. He's also much bigger given his height, as he's 177 (BMI 29.5) and Bolt is 207 (BMI 24.5). In other words, adjusting for size, Trindon Holliday may very well be faster than Usain Bolt.

Greg Homan Actually it's proven that height doesn't have that much to do with speed. It has more to do with Stride Frequency & Power. Sprinting is a skipping/bounding across the track endeavor. There are a few elite sprinters around Usain Bolts height that are not as fast as Trendon Holliday or Jeffrey Demps. Demps is 5'7". Usain has excellent power, stride frequency, great muscle balance & body mastery. Also his training is excellent. The second fastest man ever is his training partner & teammate, Yohan Blake, who's 5'11" & he's a lot shorter than Usain & he's right on his heels day in and out. Trendon Holliday if trained at that kind of elite level as Bolt and Blake would more than likely run as fast as them. Watch Essop Merrick on KZbin where he talks about this & will make you understand these points better than I could ever.

@use2slam2 Your evidence is anecdotal. A few guys were ridiculously fast. A few guys were ridiculously large. Nowadays many guys are ridiculously fast, many guys are ridiculously large, and some guys are both ridiculously fast and ridiculously large. It's a matter of how often you see those guys, and today's players are, on average, faster and stronger.

Wrong! Jim Hines is the fastest man ever in the NFL. He ran a 9.95 in the 100 meters & a 10.03 on cinder. I'm tired of hearing this argument when it's completely wrong. Fastest NFL men of all times: 1. Jim Hines 9.95 2. Trindon Holiday 10.00 3. Jeff Demps 10.01, (4.) Jacoby Ford 10.01 5. Bob Hayes 10.05 Let's stop with opinions & only speak facts.

XiGuaQT a top 10 shotputter can make 150K per year at meets. Don't sleep. A top 10 sprinter can make roughly 10K - 80K per meet. I knew a sprinter that was making 5K per meet & he only ran a PB 10.24. Most sprinters run 20-30 meets per year. Do the math, it's a lot more than you give track credit. And if you have a spike or sneaker deal, well, you can make an extra few 100 thousands to millions per year. Trindon did well financially in the NFL & probably got his pension bc he played 5 years before he retired. So he probably made the right decision by sticking with football. And he gets medical benefits. So it all depends.

I disagree. Even with a horrible start, Trindon was slightly ahead of Jacoby & had he had a better start he would have possibly ran a 9.9 low & possibly broken the Collegiate record of 9.89. You're seeing what you want to see. I'm explaining exactly what happened. Trindon won the race & was ahead pretty much the whole time against Jacoby. None the less Jacoby Ford is a beast as well! I also loved him as a football player when he was with the Raiders! He had excellent hands for a speed demon! Salute.
