Bolt has the most amazing top speed that I've ever seen, it's unfathomable. Watching this guy run is poetry in motion, definitely the best sprinter of all time. Most of the record holders have been busted for abusing illegal enhancing substances, not Bolt; I'll give him the benefit of the doubt unless he does. If he really is all natural, that just makes him even more incredible.

Behind Bolt, those far-away amateurs ran: - a south-american record in second place: 19.81s - a personal record at fifth place: 19.98s - two season best times at third and fourth place: 19.85 and 19.89s all breaking 20s, a feat which to date (July 2024) only 108 athletes have ever achieved in the history of the sport

Imagine the fastest kid at your school. Imagine he's so fast that when he competes against kids from other schools he blows them away. Imagine he's so fast and so dedicated that when he goes to college on a scholarship with a bunch of other fast, dedicated guys on scholarships he blows them away too. Imagine that when that college competes against other colleges and the fastest, most dedicated guys from other colleges full of fast, dedicated guys, your fast, dedicated classmate stands out even there. Imagine he's so fast and dedicated that he becomes one of the standout sprinters in the country and goes on to compete internationally as a professional sprinter. Imagine he's so fast and dedicated that he makes it to the Olympics. Imagine that he's so fast, so dedicated, and has worked so hard that he makes it to the Olympic final against the other 7 fastest, most dedicated, most hard-working men in the world in their event. Now imagine watching that friend and 6 others like him lose by 10 full metres to a chill Jamaican dude who eats chicken nuggets and has a nap on the day of the race.

200m's 4 best races. 4) Johnson in Atlanta: wind +0,4; 1st 100m in 10.12, 2nd 100m in 9.20 -> 19.32 3) Bolt in Beijing: wind -0,9; 1st 100m in 9.98, 2nd 100m in 9.32 -> 19.30 2) Blake in Bruxelles: wind +0,7; 1st 100m in 10.14, 2nd 100m in 9.12 -> 19.26 1) Bolt in Berlin: wind -0.3; 1st 100m in 9.92, 2nd 100m in 9.27 -> 19.19 Considerations: - Johnson in Atlanta is the best example ever of endurance in 200m. - Blake 2nd 100m is the fastest ever and considering his slow time reaction from the blocks he's the only 200m athlete to have run under 19 secs (neither Bolt in Berlin did that). - Bolt is unhuman and the best athlete ever, anyway.

When you have bolt as your last name you're pretty much destined to run.

The clock is hand-timed : add ~0.24 seconds for the proper electronic time. An expert hand-timer will clock this race at 18.95 seconds. You can do this yourself, if you like. If you're not too good, you'll clock Bolt at 18.85 or so. This is the well-established lag in hand-timing, due to human reaction time, and is well-known in track circles.

Bolt is one of the most personable athletes ever. I hope he moves on to shatter the 400 meter record. I would love to see an 'old man' best that.
