Hey so I just got a 2009 Nissan Versa cause I needed a car great on gas cause if work. I work 35 miles away from where I live 🤦🏻♀️. I know smh but I do have to say this car is great on gas very fun to drive and for such a small car has amazing pick up speed. I am very impressed with the Nissan Versa. Thank you for the video.

Great video! I have a 2008 Nissan Versa that I purchased for $8000 in 2016. It had 40000 miles on it. It has about 80000 miles now and it’s easily the best car I’ve ever owned. Outside of oil changes and a minor issue with the brakes I haven’t had to do any work to it.

Great car, I have the 2012 first gen designed hatchback with a 4spd AT .. I’m leery about recommending the CVT given their general horrid ratings..I’m at 150k miles so far with basic maintenance and I would most certainly recommend either the auto or manual trans models.

My versa been hit from deer 🦌 I replace in fixed the issue cause from dam deer after that she still runs. Only thing I had to replace was the front back shocks & brakes and radiator. I almost forgot to add i almost flip over driving down highway ramp in the rain my fault bad tires it tilted 2 wheels . Only damage was flat tire 😂 futhermore Only thing I hate is driving on highway high speeds is steering wheel handling. Light car i add low sports wing that help. But all in all i love my versa 💯 she looks good Im always added upgraded make it look better. I have other newer vehicles To drive i stay with my versa

I have this car and I liked your review except for the transmission suggestion. The four speed auto is much more reliable than the CVT. The JATCO CVT used in Nissans is a disaster for durability and reliability. They are difficult to repair properly and very very expensive to fix or replace if they go bad. It would be far far more money to fix than the car is worth and they frequently go bad. I have the six speed manual in mine which makes it fun. It's not an agile car like the much lighter Accent I used to have but it's roomy for my six four, comfortable and quiet and like you said stable on the highway. A great run around car.
@TheAuto1013 жыл бұрын
Good advice for anyone considering this car. the 4AT is definitely more reliable than the CVT
@andysaunders3708 Жыл бұрын
We have a 2005 hatch, imported from Japan, 1.8 with a CVT, wearing a Tiida badge.. Have owned it for around 5 years, and it came with nice alloys. We paid NZ$3300 for it, and it's a rocket-ship, especially in Sport Mode. We have the CVT serviced at regular intervals. It's the best "auto" I've ever driven, and it's more fuel-efficient than my Mazda 2/Demio. Done 229000 now, and only crapped out once - dead battery. Keeping it until it dies. Best car we've ever owned. Get a 1.8, (MR18DE engine), and service the CVT trans as soon as you get it, and then every 50 to 70 thousand. You shouldn't be disappointed.. It's only a couple of hundred for that CVT service to be, and a replacement transmission goes for $4K, fully rebuilt. I've serviced in myself, and it's not hard. My back is ruined now, so it goes into our local dude, and it's done in less than 2 hours. We're looking buying a lower mileage 1.8, and I'll use this higher mileage one as a work car. Love 'em.

Yeah, its not the best design but its pretty easy once you get into it. Just make sure you order a new gasket kit for the manifold and throttle body (which also has to come off).
@shecat1964 Жыл бұрын
I would have compared it more to the mazda3 hatch. They look very similar. I bought my 09 Versa 3 years ago now and im still loving it. Mostly. Im pretty sure i over paid but at the time it had less than 140 thou k on it. Well taken care of. The only thing i do not like is the placement of the cup holders. You either have to reach over the gear shift or reach behind me to put a cup down. That can be distracting to go by feel. Mine has given me a few scares on the highway, as is has very slow pickup power. But i do not drive the hyway often. It is amazing on gas. The one big issue with these cars i have found out is the muffler system. I think they make them out of tin or crap metal. I now have a franken muffler, its been patched so many times. If i had known it was going to keep blowing holes, i would have saved for a new one. The amount of money i have spent over 2 years patching holes, could have paid for the whole thing. Other than that, i love my zippy car. Just passed over 150k.

The problem with the CVT is reliability. Nissan's CVT are very problematic, and the Versa is no different. The 4 speed is greatly preferred from Versa owners. My wife totaled her Pathfinder and we want to replace with a Minivan, but we cannot order any at the moment, so I seeked out a inexpensive used car for the time being, and landed on a 2012 Versa Hatchback (2012 Hatchback is a 1st gen, 2012 Sedan is a 2nd gen if anyone is looking). Overall its a good car that is inexpensive. It's fairly easy to work on. I updated the head unit with a Android Auto unit and added front and rear cameras, and this greatly modernized the feel. The one thing that led us to the Versa was just how large the rear seat space is. Its quite surprising. We have 2 young kids in car seats and wanted something that provided room for them. We both like hatchbacks so wanted a hatchback as well. The trunk/hatch space is not bad either. It looks like it would be quite limited on space from the exterior, but its quite roomy. All that said, it does still feel like an economy car, it is slow even with the 1.8l, but its a good, economical car. We are getting in the area of 30mpg on it. Also, the S comes with the 4speed auto and the SL comes with the CVT. You get a few perks with the SL with some better seat material and a few extra features, however as I stated, I definitely disagree on the CVT being the way to go. There are countless reports in Versa groups of prematurely failing CVT transmissions, while there are many reports of the 4speed auto going over 200k miles and even a few stated over 300k. There is also a 6 speed manual option that is rare but a popular option.
@blinkybill2198 Жыл бұрын
We had about 400 of these mostly sedans and split between CVT and 4speed Auto at a rental car company I worked at. We never had issues with transmissions. The transmissions were serviced on time I think 70,000km-100,000km. We wound use them up to about 240,000km before on selling them. We did have a few at 300,000km and they were still running perfectly. Good solid cars, I think with the Nissan CVT's they need the fluid changed on time or slightly early and make sure the engine size is not too powerful for the CVT transmission. The 1.5lt engine was a good balance. Bit slow to takeoff bit once your going there is plenty of get up and go.

BAD ADVICE OFFERRED HERE! BEWARE! CVTs are a disaster. Nissan CVTs are particularly bad and have driven the company to nearly out of business. No Brainer, if given the option of traditional geared transmission to CVT, get the traditional manual or automatica transmission. This young man simply does not know much about cars, nothing personal.

For a car review, you showed us very, very little of the car but a lot..a lot...of yourself. You didn't show us the dash and the instrument panel, didn't show us the back seat, just you sitting there, barely showed us the hatchback area, which was crammed full of stuff...that is NOT how you show a car, didn't even open the hood and show us the engine. What were you actually reviewing...the car...or yourself...???
