Just had the EXACT same issue with my 2012 Matrix. Oil leaked right out of her and the indicator never came on. Just had an oil change a moht ago. Cleaned her up, put more oil in, put her on stands, ran her and there it was. Leaking away. Thankfully it's not a difficult fix. Thank you for the video!

Did you notice that the timing cover leak at the spot where the head meets the block?
@DougHinVA Жыл бұрын
good, simple, and in clear USA English. A DIY guy can do this (replace the unit and do the oil change with a good filter) and save a LOT of money!

You can change it easily without needing to raise the car, you just have to position your socket correctly. Also having skinny arms helps.

I noticed when you turned the key the oil warning light didn't come on. Mine wouldn't come on either but as soon as I replaced the sensor unit the light came back on. That's kinda messed up if you run out of oil because your oil pressure sensor unit ruptured you'll never even know you're out of oil. That's what happened to me but fortunately I don't listen to the radio so I was able to hear a slight buzzing sound when accelerating out of corners and realized I was out of oil. So I caught it before it was to late. Unfortunately the Toyota dealership told me my engine was destroyed and basically said nothing we can do don't let the door hit you on the way out. Then I took it to Hines service center and they replaced my oil filter housing unit. There was nothing wrong with it, I think they mistakenly (although they won't admit it) thought it was the oil filter housing unit because it was dripping on it from above. But I saw oil above the oil filter housing unit before I ever took it to them and I know that oil doesn't drip upwards unless were on the moon or something. I ask them to double-check and make sure there are no more leaks and he said he didn't see any. I NOTICED IT WAS STILL LEAKING THE FIRST DAY I GOT IT BACK. I mean literally all you have to do is run it for two or three minutes and then back up and you can see the oil drippings. So I figured it out and fixed it myself. All it cost was a $16 piece. AFTER giving the Toyota dealership $210 140 for the diagnostic and 70 for an oil change even though the oil change was the fix in the diagnostic was supposed to go towards the fix but I didn't think about it at the time. And $372 to Hines service center to give me an oil filter housing unit that I didn't need. I also ask them if they did an oil change and filter change before I got my car back and he said oh yeah yeah yeah yeah (just trying to hurry up and get me off the phone) well I noticed as soon as I got it back it was a about a quart and a half low and I know they didn't change the oil because I put dye in the oil and tried to find the leak myself before I took it to them. Either way, thank God there are honest mechanics on KZbin who will post videos like these. Edit... Oh yeah that was about eight weeks ago in my car still runs like the day when I bought it. Toyota dealership needs to get their ass kicked.

I appreciate the feedback. I've heard a lot of stories from customers and some of what they experience. It's mind blowing sometimes. Glad the video helped out. Thanks for watching!!

Friend, could I ask you a question? I have a 2009 Corolla with the engine that you show in the video. I would like to know where the VVT valve filter goes.
@paycheckmonster12 күн бұрын
I don't think they have replaceable filters. Usually they're is screen built into the oil control valves. Hope it helps. thanks for watching!!

Hello. Do you have the torque specs? Thank you
@cogaussie3 ай бұрын
There are 2 sensors... One is for the "oil pressure switch light" the other is for the "engine oil pressure switch" which one did you replace?
@paycheckmonster3 ай бұрын
There might be a parts listing for 2 but there is only 1. The listing shows that the one required is for either gauge or light. I know, it's kind of confusing. Thanks for watching. Hope it helps.

Can this cause a car to not start? Cause today I had the problem where it wouldn’t turn on and this light would come on when I tried to start the car. When I tried turning the car it wouldn’t even make the chirp sound it was completely dead. I hope it was the battery. Might you know?
@paycheckmonster Жыл бұрын
So this would not be related to a starting issue. If the engine does not crank over. It could be a simple battery voltage issue to a starter or something in the starting circuit like and relay, connection, switch etc.

If you can't tell that the front of the engine has a drive belt and figure out the location from there. You probably shouldn't be working on it???? Thanks for watching!!
