But when the gen 1 was still on sale, most buyers bought petrol unit as people then hasn't loved diesels as they do now. It's only after gen 2 (aka Innova Reborn) launched when diesel started to beat petrol engine sales because of the GD engine's bigger power and significantly improved fuel efficiency compared to previous gen's KD engine.

Nice! Despite having so so performance, the 1TR motor is bullet proof. This video reminds me to my parents' 2014 2.0 V AT they sold 2 years ago. Engine sound indeed was relatively loud, and the transmission often confused when shifting gears on steep hills. Good thing that they replaced the 4 speed auto with a 6 speed one in the 2nd gen Innova.

How would u rate the nvh? Esp engine noise. Does the 1tr-fe sound good n smooth?

Overall NVH including the engine noise I will give 5 out of 10. Most sound are contributed by engine noise. The wind and road noises are OK tho.
