Great video! I'm a 62-yr old Minnesota guy who rides all year. My new year's resolution was 1000 miles for 2023, and I passed that goal in July. It's Nov, and at 1,760 miles, I'm going for 2000. Not bad for a guy with a heart condition.
@bkefrmr11 ай бұрын
I've ridden with many folks with heart conditions. Luckily, in most of Minnesota, you can find flat enough routes to keep your heart rate down. Besides, with basically unlimited gearing options, there's no need to go hard on a bike!

Wow, awesome! I grew up in Brooklyn Park 1963 to 1983. Lots more woods, dirt paths, gravel, and farms back then. Looks like you went up west river road and crossed over on the dam. You came back over the I-694 bridge. I was glued to my bike back then. Now I'm 60, and still glued to my bike (Surly Bridge Club) in S.W. Washington state. I need to get back there and ride the old places again. THANK YOU. I enjoy your vids.

127 miles is a SERIOUS ride! The most I’ve ever done continually has been 65 miles. I’m a lone wolf, though-I would imagine a group ride would keep you going further & longer than riding by yourself-especially on a planned route. 🔥🚴🏻♂️🔥

Having people around does indeed help. I had to do a bunch of 200km rides before I developed the mental endurance and motivation to be able to ride one solo. Now it's fun either way.

I dusted off my Felt V100 this summer after a few years of neglect and rode over 2,200 mi, with 10 or 11 century+ rides and a couple 150 milers by myself. I just learned about randonneuring from your channel a few weeks ago and I may have found what I want to be when I grow up…a rando! I’m from just south of Minneapolis and have been thinking about reaching out to the MN rando group to learn more. I really enjoy your videos! Keep up the great work!

Great video. Over here in Ontario we call the R12 the O12. Same thing, but 8 of the 12 rides must be in Ontario. I'll keep trying to complete the circuit, but December through February sure make it tough. I love that your crew stuck together for the most part. It's a great day when a brevet is a giant group ride.
@bkefrmr11 ай бұрын
This is the second MN Randos 200k that aside from a few stragglers, the group stuck together all day. It's basically like going for 4 different rides, each with new company!
@FredChagnon11 ай бұрын
@@bkefrmr We have a few cliques in our club that will generally stick together as well. I did a 400km ride last spring where 7 ofnus stuck together, and another 200k in the fall where the entire group of 8 started and finished together. Always nice to see everyone finish the ride.

I ride my bicycles most days, and I have no problem riding in weather like seen in the video. I've happily ridden in colder weather. I just don't want to ride for more than about four hours at a time, so randonnoeuring is probably not my thing. It sounds like a really fun adventure though.

P.S. When I was 6, I rode my Huffy 'Convertable' to my Grandparent's house, 1.5 miles away (suprise!). As a teen, I would ride my road bike over the river to my other Grandparents in New Brighton. There was no way to cross on I-694 back then! I would ride way south and take Camden bridge across. I did some touring, racing, and a 550 mile/5 day trip around the state with Jim Klobucher. Great times. Thxs agn.

I've done a Randonneurs USA ride in all 50 states. This included a 200k brevet in MN during the summer months. I don't remember much about the route, but I remember the riders being very congenial. In particular, the RBA at the time (Rob) was truly a great guy. Love seeing this group still getting it done! And finishing 200k at this time of year with your sunglasses still on is always a bonus!
