@@Laura-sk5gx Thanks, I appreciate that. Yeah, I love the Cairngorms too, very different to most of the rest of the Highlands

Awesome mega adventure so far. Climbing up on that big rock on first day looked quite fun.

Thanks for the video, I’m looking to plan a 5-day trip next spring, Ballater to Aviemore via Lochnagar and Glenshee then up through the main massif! Glad to see I’m not the first to think about this route! Atb

@@MaylesTrails I’m looking at May so could be anything! Any camping spots you recommend?

@@keirenoutdoors So, my original plan was mostly summit camps.... But the strong winds ruined that. I camped at Loch Etchachan on the first night, and I'd definitely camp there again. Not sure if that's on your route though? The second night, just to get out of the wind, I camped next to Bob Scott's bothy, which was fine. From that point onwards, I mostly made use of the bothies. My last night I camped just above the junction of the Lairig Ghru and the path up Braeriach. Again, it was a decent spot. If you get good weather and the snow has cleared, I'd highly recommend camping near the summit of Braeriach. I did this on a previous trip and it was a fantastic spot to wake up in the morning.

@@MaylesTrails That’s amazing. Hopefully looking something like this: Day 1 Ballater to Loch Callater (via Lochnagar) Day 2: Loch Callater to Altnour Lodge (via Glenshee) Day 3: Altnour Lodge to Corrour Bothy Day 4: Corrour Bothy to Loch Etchachan Day 5: Loch Etchachan to Aviemore (via Loch Morlich)

@@keirenoutdoors Looks like a good route. I'm not sure on the terrain etc in the Glenshee area, as I only went as far as Cairn of Claise in that direction. The rest I can vouch for. You might need an alternative plan, in case of a lot of snow, at that time of year. But, assuming not too much snow, the stretch from Corrour bothy to Loch Etchachan is fantastic.

Hey there! Great videos. I am planning an even more mega walk ;) (14+ days) in the region next summer/fall. I would be interested in your route as an inspiration.

@@florianhiking4817 Thanks! I hope you get better weather than I did 😅 My route changed several times, due to the weather conditions (I didn't originally plan on staying in any of the bothies). So my biggest bit of advice would be to have a back up plan, in case of bad weather. The first 3 days were identical to my planned route, after that it changed quite a lot. I'll try now to post links to gpx files of my route...

@@MaylesTrails thanks for the gps tracks and thanks for the advice. my idea was to plan rather roughly with a few sights that we definitely want to see and the occasional visit to places with showers and food. everything else spontaneously depending on our mood and the weather.

@@florianhiking4817 Sounds like a good plan. I had my route (original and amended) pass through Braemar twice to allow me to resupply on food. Saved me carrying any more than 4 days of food at a time
