Chiming in with all the other comments. Thank you for putting this video together!! My issue was the front passenger and 2x rear windows could go down, but not back up using the front driver's side controls (the controls on each of these 3 windows worked fine). Id dismantled most of the driver's side myself, but the trick this video taught me was to remove the window lock button to be able to get to the circuit board. I flooded the entire thing with contact cleaner (saw some yellow/brown sludge drip off). Plugged back in and all is working. All thanks to this video!

Omg dude. Thank you!!!!! My issue was the little black switch thing wasn’t aligned with the white square thing. Didn’t even need the cleaner. Just realigned it and now my window isn’t stuck down anymore! Thank you again!

Glad it helped. Any idea how it became misaligned in the first place?

@@416diy not a clue. This issue has been on going for a few months now. Intermittently functioning until finally yesterday the window refused to go up. About a year ago the door itself lost a screw somehow and I couldn’t shut the door. I legit thought I was being pranked because it seemed so bazaar that I’d go into the 711 for two minutes, then come back out and my door somehow lost a screw and couldn’t latch shut. That was a fun ride back home holding my door shut with one hand and steering with the other. Maybe the alignment got messed up back then and progressively got worse? Who knows lol

Worked perfectly on an intermitting drive side switch for controlling passenger front window. Window would go down not up. Was never intermittent. Worked for 10 years then one day just stopped. Suspect it is dust and mud from humidity that prevent good switch contact closure. Worked perfectly first attempt at repair.

Great video. Clear and accurate and detailed and short! I had already purchased the switch assembly (for the online price of $40 instead of the dealer price of $350), so skipped the middle disassembly. Easy Peasy, Thanks!!

6:25 First, thank you for making this video, it is the most useful and clear video regarding this repair. However, if you're like me and simply spraying these switches does not resolve the issue then you're going to have to go deeper (or buy a new control panel): Pry and remove the cover off the "traditional switches" being careful not to break the tiny "clip" that holds the metal cover over the plastic casing. Remove "guts" from plastic switch casing (Make a mental note or take a picture of how the tiny "guts" go back together) At the very bottom, attached to the circuit board, is the actual activating button (mine looked like it had blown out like a fuse.) Clean with electronic cleaning spray and, if needed, scrape muck off with a tiny flathead screwdriver. You will also likely have to clean the surface of the tiny metal clip that physically connects the button when activated (This is the last piece you remove to get to the button soldered to the circuit board so you can't miss it.) If you have good eyes, steady hands and a lot of patience it should be no problem. Since I have none of those it was a major pain in the @ss! for me :) Nevertheless, in the end I got it fixed for the cost of the cleaning spray, so again, my sincere thanks again for making this video!

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS TUTORIAL!!! After i put in sound deadending material in my car only my passenger window wouldnt go up, it would only go down. So i used the same process with all the switches, let it dry out for hours just to be sure, put it all back together and IT WORKED!!! I was just about to buy a $100 switch board and wait over a week with my window stuck down but you saved me so much headache and heartache. Thank you so much!

Thanks for the video! After seeing the internals and what needed cleaning I decided to try it without taking anything apart. With the car off I sprayed a generous amount of electrical cleaner in the gaps of the switch, focusing mainly on the gap where the internal switch is located. I pushed and pulled on the switch constantly while spraying to help clean the contacts. And that's it. I left it to dry overnight and it works perfectly now!

That wouldn't have been a fun video at all. Jk, glad it worked, and nice to know that option exists before taking it all apart.

Do you think spraying the window lock button without taking it apart might work with that button too? The button seems to physically work fine but doesn’t unlock the windows. The drivers window is the only window that works.

@@JeffreyAltman It's worth a shot. Just be sure to give it plenty of time to dry before turning the car back on.

My issue is that I can’t get the window to go up (Mazda 3 2008) without pulling the “up” button about 20x (at different angles) until it finally engages and goes up. Is this this issue that you fixed through the video? Think it’ll work for my 2008 problem? Thanks a lot for posting this video…it gives me hope lol

I can't tell you for sure, because the switch in my car is different from the one in yours. Might be worth trying. Also might want to check that the plastic part of the switch isn't cracked or damaged, and that it's actually making contact with the switch on the circuit board.

@nunyabusiness8962 жыл бұрын
Does it do it on both doors or only 1? If it's one door then the switch is likely bad, if it's both doors then the relay that controls it or its relevant fuse is probably bad.

@nunyabusiness8962 жыл бұрын
@@sludjj1436 Then fuse, relay, or unlock solenoid is bad (or dirty/jammed). Look for a fuse diagram and see if you can find a fuse just for the front door locks. Seems unlikely both solenoids would fail at the same time unless you bought the car that way and don't know when they failed.
