Excited to install these Laser Iridium spark plugs into my car. They're the latest series in NGK OEM lineup of Iridium series. Laser series lasts 80k to 100k miles versus only 40k to 50k in a normal iridium spark plug. These are 6x harder and 8x stronger than platinum. In a V8 engine, these also increase your fuel economy as stated on many websites.

Thanks for the video, just replaced mine with Denso Iridium TT. A bunch of various length extensions and swivel head ratchets really help. One tip for removing connector from coil: use a small right angle pick to lift the bottom of the tab (to get it off the hook) while pulling the connector with fingers. Worked well for me.

@GXBOB
@GXBOB Жыл бұрын
Hey Ron, I made this video many many moons ago when my editing skills were zero, my camera was crap. I have since earned my black belt in youtube angle shots so i'm going to redo this tutorial before this year is over. As far as your 2nd to the firewall coil pack, I loosened and zip tied the main wire harness out of the way. I used an angled mini pry bar to dislodge the plug from the coil. I used another plastic pry tool to dislodge the coil from its cavity. At this point you really have to go thru the real motions (instead of a dry run) to weasel yourself in different directions as the coil packs slides out. It doesn't come straight out as it seems, it does slide out at an angle from what i remember.
@TN_HondaDad
@TN_HondaDad Жыл бұрын
@@GXBOB Thx - If I had the spark plugs I literally could have changed 3 on the driver side. I just wanted to see about moving the harness back, then I unsnapped the first coil pack then said heck let me take it all the way out and before I knew it essentially did 3 of them. Learned a few tricks along the way with unsnapping those clips for the coil pack and a very small angle pick helped a lot and got easer as you learn the "trick" But yeah, the 2nd from the rear had meta "tube's" where it I couldn't get the coil all the way out but didn't continue on after my 5 min peak under the hood turned into nearly 45 min of tooling around. lol Appreciate the quick response and will see if I can move things around when I go replace for real and zip tie a few things. From your video, I feel if I do the driver side first, the passenger side will be easier too. Cheers!

Why did you skip using dielectric grease as a best practice?
@GXBOB
@GXBOB 3 жыл бұрын
Dielectric grease is to prevent misfires and allows for easy removal later on for your next plug change. Unlike many people, I do maintenance way before the manufacturer recommended intervals. I change my brakes, tires at 50% wear, full synthetic oil changes at 5k, air filters every other oil change. You get my drift. My parts don't stay on the car long enough to misfire or get stuck. These tutorials only help guide u on high level steps and short cuts and don't necessarily get down into the weeds. But if asked in the comments I'll most likely recommend greasing them especially with the 1st and 2nd gen GX. Great question though!

I recently said no thanks and paid the dealer $350 for this. It was worth every penny.

Yikes! I purchased the spark plugs on eBay for $70 and the rest was just mere labor. I know it looks intimidating but i reserved a couple of hours of my time and a handful of tools. You'd be surprised at how easy it was. Just requires some patience. If the video didn't encourage you to do it yourself, at least I hope it was entertaining. Thanks for viewing.

Man I won’t buy a car part from no name sellers on amazone or eBay. Only buy from amazone itself or dealers who sell parts on these market places
