2010 Chevy Traverse Headlight Restoration in real time! 😁

Hello everyone! Thank you for tuning in. I wanted to upload a restoration in real time so you can see how long an average job can take. While most take under 20 minutes, doing fog lights can add a little more time.
This Traverse was perfect, because the oxidation was sooo easy to remove. You can see how fast it comes off when first starting with the 400 grit sand paper.
I apologize for the loud traffic. This customer wanted me to do the restoration while they were at the gym, so I quickly did it in the parking lot.

Yes do more video like this!! In future videos if you could talk about how you know the old coating is completely removed during the wet sanding process. Especially when the factory coating is relatively healthy in certain area of the headlight. For me I often realize, not until it dries that I can finally see the areas I missed. Is there a way to recognize these areas while wet sanding? A trick perhaps? Thank you!

Hi Aaron, we can do more videos like this :) Yes! There is a way. Once you are completely done sanding, dry the lens with a lint free towel, then dry again with the alcohol pad. Once it dries after that, thoroughly inspect it. You can see a difference in shades where you may have missed. Once you dry, the lens should be a dull, smooth, milky finish. If you see small spots that are not consistently with the milky look, and appear darker, that is a spot you may have not sanded long enough.

What grit do you use if customer wants their rear lights too and where do you get those paper with tape

Hello! Same process, 400/600 grit sandpaper. We get the masking paper from Lowes.

Hi Tom, You're right, I forgot to add it in the Description. Most processes are all the same. Start wet sanding with 400grit, then finish with 600grit sandpaper, then apply the clear coat. You can get more information on the kits at StartRestoringHeadlights.com
