I work for a major corporation up here in Washington state due to an on job injury about to enter into forced retirement my son a biologist for the largest university up here in Seattle hasn't experienced any sort of corporate creep thankfully and he's still going strong in the lab going to do my best to start watching you again my friend I've got a bunch of videos on the backlog to watch

Sorry to hear oif your situation. I will say, having worked at a University originally I will say they generally don't experience mass layoffs. Totally different environment in Academia. I definitely had way, way better job security- but I was broke AF lol.

Matt, Great tutorial. I love the opening innuendo. As per your advice, I did buy the Vantage Pro. The guy only used it twice, like new. Regards Joe

Glad to hear you enjoyed the intro and congrats on the vantage!! I still use mine and I love it!!

Hi Matt, you've reminded me excitement while waiting for new episode of Dallas, when I was kid. Please don't feel offended, I can't compare this with Dallas of course, this is certainly much more informative content.

Welcome back. Not seen you use a decade box on the channel before. Could use one to see if the PCM reacts to the change in resistance. Along with your scope to narrow done if you’ve got a wiring issue or a PCM issue. Obv your direction may be affected by the results of the bias voltage checks you were about to do at the end of the video

Great video obviously putting a new o2 sensor didn’t fix it I felt like they didn’t go through all the causes for that code maybe they put wrong o2 sensor

It is nice that Chryslers have the ability tell you what cylinder the misfire is on. I am a GM guy and those older 3.8, 3.4, 3.5 just give you a random misfire code P0300 and no counters even if you just have a one cylinder misfire. I guess my next test would be to see if it runs okay in open loop. I don't think the Temp sensor un-plug will work on a Chrysler to force open loop. You could try unplugging MAF (If this is not a speed density engine - I don't think it is of the vacuum leak would not have this effect). I think unplugging the 02's with force open loop as well. If it still has misfire on the default open loop fuel strategy, test fuel pressure and do an injector pule test and see if they are all equal. If the misfire goes away then I would defiantly look into the O2 Sensor more. It is kind of a pain, but you could play swaptronics with the O2's and see if the problems goes to the other bank as well. I would guess you have a leaky injector on bank 2 though, so that is what I would eliminate first.

GM has counters on scan tool data on that older stuff.
@frugalprepper2 ай бұрын
@@mph5896 Yeah, but they are not accurate. If it says which cylinder it is, it will normally be a different cylinder(s)

You could probably still get on the net with LAN (directly plugged in to your router). You could just get a long ethernet cable and plug it into the nearest plug in your house (or your router directly), and just string the wire all across the floor of your house and out into the garage. lol.. At least it can be done if you really needed to.

Nice case study. Looks to me like the bank two is trying to wake up the post catalytic converter B2S2 by enriching the mixture on bank two. Nice you are back.
@SchrodingersBox2 ай бұрын
Nice thought but it’s actually the opposite as you will soon see…
@calholli2 ай бұрын
To me it looks like you may have a leaky injector on bank 2 and it's dumping fuel down the exhaust, which is causing the O2 sensor on that side to reduce fuel with that -25 fuel trim on that bank, which is causing the two good cylinders on that side to run very lean, and the one that is leaking is probably still running very rich, even with the reduced fuel.. since it's leaking. lol.. That's my guess. Or like you sad, it could just be a wonky O2 sensor too.
@noahadim2 ай бұрын
It's true, it's a happy day when the cylinder you need to work is in front! But the intake is bummer
@ablackformula2 ай бұрын
You created a vacuum leak and expected to see the fuel trims for the good bank have a strong reaction. This would be true for a MAF controlled ecu, but not for a speed density setup. Speed density was never measuring the air to begin with-it's calculating it. It will see a drop in manifold vacuum, and recognize that as engine load. It will automatically calculate a longer pulse width for the fuel injectors. So the fuel trims won't see a change. The opposite is true for a MAF ecu - the MAF gives a way low airflow measurement to the ECU, and the ECU calculates its pulse width based on that inaccuracy. Then the o2 sensors show way lean, and the fuel trims go high to counter act.

Hmmm smells like the recent SMA problem with the bad pcm and the rubbed wire. Or an missing ground (haha) - 2 minutes in, just an estimate here :D

I think it’s just the sheer volume of customers available is my guess. Plus remember the vast majority of customers come in for basic stuff and probably leave good reviews for stuff like brake pads, oil change whatever.
@mkoteb72022 ай бұрын
This looks like a speed density engine. Vacuum leak won't affect the trims

@ekimbrough1413Ай бұрын
Could be a serious vacuum leak!
@SchrodingersBoxАй бұрын
If so why is the signal rich and not lean?
@ekimbrough1413Ай бұрын
@@SchrodingersBox How I'm reading this Schro...if the signal is rich then air is being lost somewhere before the firing sequence, computer is compensating ?
@SchrodingersBoxАй бұрын
How can air be lost - not sure I follow that. It’s a vacuum environment not a pressure environment. It’s not possible for air to be lost but is possible for air to be under or over measured. However we see that’s not the case from the MAF readings. What’s happening is the O2 sensor is clearly not reading accurately. The air and fuel mixture was correct, but the fuel trim is falsely trying to correct for a bad O2 sensor input.
@ekimbrough1413Ай бұрын
@@SchrodingersBox Well if my memory is correct the o2 was replaced a couple of times. Bank 2 : 2, 4, 6 cylinders with misses I was thinking it could be a valve or head gasket vacuum leak. Seemed strange on that replacement number, so my route would been to do a smoke test just to check for vacuum lost, the proceed to say sh*t!!!, Better call Schrodinger! Ls!
@SchrodingersBoxАй бұрын
Yep. o2 sensor was changed indeed however you still have to follow the evidence. This is a combustion O2 measurement problem.
