I road both before choosing the Z1000. Both are amazing machines but the Kawy is less than half on insurance and a bit more refined. The yamaha is a second thought while the Zed 1000 is purpose built. New frame, engine, not a down tuned ZX1000.

@bungle2k Öhlins fit their stuff just like Maxton. I live 10 miles from their factory i sweden. Spring rates, compression dials in according to rider weight and riding style.

It seems like alot of money to spend to get it to acceptable standards. I'm curious to know how this bike would stand up to the FZ1000 Yamaha. I have been led to beleive the FZ was a better choice from other comparo tests. Anybody have an oppion?

Shame that you have to do so much modifying right out of the gate like that. I think I'd avoid this one. A nice H-D 750 would do the trick. Or any Trumpy!

Kawasaki must spends hundreds of thousands developing a bike like this including its suspension which I imagine was designed and setup optimally for this bike, and you come along and change all that. I think I would rather take Kawasaki's setup than that of one individual with what appears to be his own opinion. I would like to know what, say, 10 experienced riders thought.

why does kawasaki has to put in some shitty suspension into a great bike? i own a z1000 '08 and the handling sux, wobbly over bumps and you really gotta wrestle with the bar around bends. sometimes i juz feel like letting it go and crash.
