You should have popped off the plastic overflow tube that's on top of the drain plug. That would've gotten most of the oil out of the pan. I'm also amazed when I see pro auto technicians not using safety glasses or gloves for this kind of work. Too important not to use them.

Thank you for a great video I did my transmission on yesterday! took my glk 4matic it to the dealer for an airbag recall they tried to charge me $700 for a transmission oil change and $1200 for front and rear brakes which I had already replaced myself two weeks ago. So dealership will try to get you. They just didn't know I was ASE Certified. I told my service writer they need to be ashamed of themselves lying about doing a 120 point inspection! That straight crap! Please if you find a good honest mechanic stick with them.

This is not the recommended type of fluid. The recommended is blue in colour not red. This is the 722.9 plus. You can identify this by the oval shape of the depressions on the oil pan. Earlier models were round shaped and use this red fluid

Billy Albert Ureña Pereyra the procedure for this service is very complicated if you never done it before! You need to add fluid, then run the car to a certain temp and check the over flow if no oil comes out, add more and repeat the test till oil just drips from overflow. As far as the color you need to call a dealer with the VIN.

IF THE CAR IS A 4MATIC, CAN YOU NOT DRAIN THE TORQUE CONVERTOR? IS THERE NO WAY TO GET TO THE BELL HOUSING TO EXPOSE THE TORQUE CONVERTOR DRAIN PLUG? THX MUCH!
@MaicSalazarDiagnostics6 жыл бұрын
PARDS2 Replacement of transmission fluid ordinarily does not include draining the torque converter. The procedure specified in many factory shop manuals for changing transmission fluid is merely to drain and clean the sump, and then install enough new fluid to replace what was drained. If you want to do a complete flush there is an access at the bottom of the transmission and the converter does have a plug. If you don’t want to do it this way you can use the transmission cooler lines and drain the old fluid from there at the same time that you keep adding fresh fluid .

Salazar Diagnostics 2008 Mercedes C300 4matic when I step on the accelerator, the car responds seconds later, this always happens, is this lack of fluid in the transmission? or another problem?
@MaicSalazarDiagnostics4 жыл бұрын
manny manny it can be.
@RothBeyondTheGrave4 жыл бұрын
Has it been like that since you got the car? These cars have a very slow throttle response by nature. Still feels odd to me. Every Mercedes I've ever driven including my c207 chassis is like that. It asks you, "are you sure?" before it gives it to you hahah
@mannym.45884 жыл бұрын
@@RothBeyondTheGrave it was always like this...responds to acceleration not immediately
@RothBeyondTheGrave4 жыл бұрын
@@mannym.4588 not sure if you ever owned any front wheel drive, say, honda/acuras but coming from them a Mercedes throttle response definitely takes a second or 2 to kick in. A few beamers I drove also had a heavier pedal feel, but not as slow as Benz. Gotta really dig in. Not sure about amg's, but our trannys also shift super slow. 722.9 is made for cruising, not racing. There's lots of talk about it around, & even seen ppl using bolt ons like Pedal Commander (think that's it) to improve the responsiveness. You've got nothing to worry about
@azizhachimi87443 жыл бұрын
Hi buddy' this is inherent to all pre-facelift w204...I tried a 2012 C250 and was shocked how slow it was, so I passed my way until I found a "gem"....a 2014 C300 4Matic (late run with all issues fixed: location of signal indicator, throttle lag,...) WITH only 15K Miles (25K km) and, DAMN, it responds instantaneously and flies on the road...The other day I was on a 3 line road with a MK6 Jetta on my left and a Kia on my right and I gave them a chance after the lights went green...They thought they got advantage and then I put my foot down and they almost immediately disappeared in my rear view mirror...They really thought they would outrun a healthy (almost new) MB V6 engine....I only put Liqui-Moly "LeichtLauf" 5w40 in it and it purrs like a kitten... The other day I also smoked a Subaru impreza with a boxer engine....this thing rocks without any tune (250 bhp stock...)

@JamesAllen3005 жыл бұрын
Shouldn't you have checked first though before putting the fluid in to make sure 100% it was correct? You're the mechanic that did the fluid change, so it does come on to you. Whether it is red or blue depends on the serial number on the gearbox. I did have the serial numbers written down to show which is which. There is another way to tell and it's the design of the oil pan. See link below. www.benzworld.org/forums/w212-e-class/2336793-red-blue-atf-722-906-a.html
@joneskey39505 жыл бұрын
James Allen you can make a youtube video of going under the car, showing where and how to find the serial numbers on the transmission. Continue the video of your trip to the dealer and them telling you only needed the vin number to get the correct fluid, and it was a waste of time getting the serial number off the case/pan. Post a link here when your video is ready. Thanks

What ever the amount you drained out,fill in the same amount,should be good,right? No need to follow all that procedures,right?
@MaicSalazarDiagnostics5 жыл бұрын
mckoy lach not really, this transmission needs to be on a specific temperature to be fill. Plus how you know if the fluid was low or not before? You can drain let’s say 8 liters and not be able to add them back unless transmission is at the specific temp.
