Transmission level check has to be performed with engine running. Also I read pan bolts are to be tightened to 6NM then turned 180 degrees. These are stretch bolts, therefore, they are not to be reused again.

I was thinking that very thing - I've done VW's with DSG trans and it was with the engine running and also moving the shift lever through the gears as part of the warm-up process.

Yes it sounds like the engine was not running when he disconnected hose. Then the transmission is not running and in park, a lot of fluid "dumps" back into the pan, so if that's the case, he drained way more fluid than he should have and the trans will be running low on fluid

I did my 09 E350 pretty much as you did. At 45c ( 113F) the fluid is warm. Just be careful of the hot exhaust. It took about 20 mins at idle to reach the temperature.. The oem flter from Mercedes ( filtran? material filters down to 50 microns whereas the Febi ( maybe that is the one in your kit? ) filter down to 80 microns. Will that make much of a difference? IDK. Cycling through the gears prior to draining the excess is a good thing also. Good job!!!
@supersabrosinho
@supersabrosinho Жыл бұрын
Yes it will. The filter's job is to both keep contaminants out of the trans as well as maintain a consistent volumetric flow rate. When you go higher in microns your flow rate also drops. Lots of people obsess over microns thinking higher is better. NO. Keep the OEM spec for lasting performance
@stevem6711
@stevem6711 Жыл бұрын
@@supersabrosinho I believe you have that backwards - the higher the number, the more porous, meaning less restrictive. I think that was his concern - less trapped contaminates, but higher flow rate.
@minorityreport2125
@minorityreport2125 2 жыл бұрын
Not sure if I would go for it myself. Because sometimes it is not enough just to change the oil, filter, and check the level at 45C. Sometimes Siemens/Continental TCU electronics do not like change of oil and then TCU needs to be reprogrammed. Re-marry. That is another level. In fact, my opinion is that not many mechanics in Australia are real experts in G7 722.9 transmission service and as a result, you end up with problems they create after transmission service. So, I fully understand your reasoning behind "I will o it myself". My advice to all MB owners with G7 722.9 is "not be afraid to ask who will work on your transmission and what are their CV. o not assume that because it is MB Service center they know."
@SVXistance
@SVXistance 2 жыл бұрын
I agree somewhat with your analysis. Changing the fluid (about 50% of it in these services) will result in a change in viscosity because less metal suspended in fluid…..this might affect the how the tcu responds Bc it has adapted over time to condition of fluid. So doing this service every 40-50k makes the difference in fluid characteristics less variant. Doing this once at 120k will surely give you problems. I always do a transmission reset (with gas pedal ) after And then it takes like 1000 miles or so to re adapt to new conditions …. Thanks for your comment👌🏻👍

Not, "To each their own". It is more costly..plus the ultra-consumerism. I live in the highest possible prices Metcedes service area in the USA and still 2 oil changes [A+B] plus transmission fluid change costed 800 dollars at one of the most expensive dealerships with a package. It's oral about 1800 dollars for that. 722 dollars plus tax and 325 dollars plus tax, just for the oil changes. . I did receive 60 dollar OEM Mercedes windshield wipers as well. Let alone the normal transmissions fluid change cost. I won't expand on how much that costs. Don't take all replies as an insult. It's just reality. I think it's interesting to DIY and do much myself. Like LED lights, lips, diffusers, interior updates, 2020 GPS updates, cameras, steering wheel and etc. Anything that a licensed Mercedes mechanic handles, I don't touch. I really clicked on this to see if AT-205 reseal could be added to the transmission fluid as a safety precaution. I usually add it to the oil and struts on my older Mercedes. Personal = Hobby. We both know all Mercedes are money pits and the newer ones are manufactured with plastic over computerized crap. -Enjoy the day. *I wouldn't step into an O'Reilly's*

@Steve M You made 6 comments already on this channel. How about you don't waste your time replying with paragraphs to comments not for you? Rhetorical These videos are for views and money. They aren't to help the average meat bag like you to save money or for your benefit. YT DIY clowns, don't include time, workspace, years of knowledge and one screwing up their vehicle. The last thing I'd do is have a dealership work on my car but, if you own a Mercedes, and I own 4 now, because I'm a wasteful jackass, but you go in with the knowledge that you can afford to own them. You save money on a Pontiac or an Oldsmobile...even a Toyota. You know that Mercedes purposefully designs shit that should be done at the dealership. Nobody tells you about the 100K in a garage they put in or 3 days of labor or risking your life under an over 2 ton vehicle. All things being equal, they aren't, just the time isn't worth it to me. This for hobbiest that are bored with nothing else to do. Go put together a puzzle or dig a tomato garden. Thats all this BS is. I watch it on occasion in the shitter to pass the time and see if it is worth it. It isn't. I can do my own maintenance and have done it. Being judgey is your medical diagnosis? Because you put in the years of medical school and became a social media psychiatrist? No you didn't and nobody with any degree in medicine should ever come to a comment conclusion. I get it. You wanted your two cents in. Meanwhile you took 3 dollars amd wasted your time. Thank you for filling in the 3 minutes I wanted to waste. You entertained me. That's my diagnosis. Maybe I should assume, like you through a reply, that it is paramount for you to stick your nose in other people's crap. You social media clowns like to use the word "Karen" or "no cap" but, I'm assuming, like you, that you are an older adult child that enjoys reading comments. Make your own. Don't reply to mine from 7 plus months ago. In fact my Oil change is coming up. I won't be doing it myself. Transmission plus 3 oil changes for 1K. Over me doing that crap, well worth it. I get to trash one of the new horrible 4 cylinder turbo loners as well. Those 60 dollar New Mercedes wipers will be unnecessary but, they better not forget them. I think it's a Service B. I couldn't care less which letter, because I'll be at a restaurant whilst some paid moron does it for me. He went to mechanic school. I didn't have to waste that time.

He literally drained the whole fluid . The level should be checked with the engine running. That transmission is probably shot within 5 minutes of driving.

Pretty damn sure your vehicle should have been running when you were checking the fluid level & letting excess fluid drain out…. To me it Seems like you drained our way to much

This is wrong, the engine should run when you check the oil level. You have far too little oil now. And you didn't change the oil in the converter, or the oil cooler. so this is exactly how not to do it

Hey! Man you did not drain the torque converter fluid, so that was not a good example to show people, please know what you are doing before you make videos like this, it is very misleading and dangerous! 🤔👎👎👎👎👎
