2010 MERCURY MILAN WON'T CRANK OR START...1 CLICK FIXED

Car drove fine all day. No check engine light. Parked it and it would not Crank afterwards. Only makes a Click sound. Tried to start it at least 15x. Battery was good. Everything else worked normally. Car had full power. Engine just would not Crank.

i have brand new alternator battery and starter and still does that i think its a wiring issue

@@donavion8273 I know your post is 5 months old and you likely have it fixed by now, but if for some reason you don't and it's just sitting in your drive. Try replacing the ignition switch, had this issue a few years ago and thought it was the starter at first. Pretty much the same symptoms. There's a video here on KZbin that walks you through it fairly well and it took me maybe 20 minutes to replace.

Had this same issue... (on a 2009) replaced my starter a few years back at an attempt to fix an issue which ended up being the ignition switch. Anyways, if your skinny enough you can climb under the car (I barely fit enough to get my head under and part of my chest) you won't have to jack the car up if you can manage. (You might have some kind of bottom plastic shield where the oil filter is, if you do remove it) If you can't get under it, make sure you jack it safely and use jack stands!!! Look at your starter, if will pretty much be right in the middle bottom, there's a rubber boot (at least on mine). I pulled this boot up and out fell a nut. I came to the conclusion this boot is actually designed to catch this nut if it comes loose. BE SURE TO REMOVE YOUR BATTERY TERMINALS before tightening the nut back on. I put some lock tight on it and snugged it. Started right up. Hope this might save someone some money.

Replaced the starter, alternator, battery, and ignition switch and it worked for a while but now it's happening again and idk what it is 😭

Hi, I have a Mercury Milan 2008, I have the same failure, the problem is with neutral-Parking safety switch. Try this: Change transmission selector to Neutral, and try to start it. This switch permits car starts only at Parking or Neutral position, and normally the first failure is in Parking position.

I had the same problem tried everything else then put foot on brake pedal shifted gears put back in park and started right up

dont smack your starter with anything the rubber boot is so you don't shock yourself or contact also it identifies the pole as hot positive red or negative black verify hot is from battery positive the other side to ground also corrosion protection.. auto part store can test electrical system battery alternator for free cause they want to sell you the part. the starter technique was to ground across the poles on so,enoid if the starter wasnt enguaging flywheel you can also try rolling the car a bit in gear just to get the flywheel to move slightly. cranking and turning over are the same thing geez dont believe everything do some leg work or go to a mechanic........

Don’t buy reman starter’s. They could fail in any given time frame. Usually, within the year they fail. Always Go new. Manufactures brand recommended. Try to learn some car lingo👍. I thought you were looking to explain an issue starting. Rather I’m diagnosing your issue as faulty starter. 😒.
