That is a beautiful sailing vessel. Love the look of the interior woodwork. Great job on the refit Rico. My only sailing experience was decades ago on a city reservoir on a 20' boat. It was a blast, especially when the spinnaker was let out and the boat would tilt to one side at a pretty good angle. My uncle, who owned the boat, eventually ended up living on a catamaran with his wife. They would divide their time between Vancouver, Canada and Florida.

Definitely two sinks. Never lived on a yacht, but besides using a smaller second sink for defrosting foods, it is great for soaking and cleaning veggies.

And "aubergine" is totally an English word, it's just that a lot of English speakers don't know it, haha. (And I agree "eggplant" as a colour is different to "aubergine" in English... or should be. Egglplant is a redder purple, aubergine is a browner purple. I think the hull is aubergine).

The Moody DS series are probably my favorite monohulls, and the 62 is probably the sweet spot for size and performance. The only criticism I have for them is the helm positions with ZERO protection. Sure, you could maybe put an ugly bimini on there or something, but I'd rather they just put a full helm inside for when the weather is awful. Other than that...PERFECT monohull. Thanks for the tour!

Pilot house for 62 in blue water for sure.
@Sailing360
@Sailing360 2 жыл бұрын
But the helms stations are "sporting" and if you have the canvas on the sides of the roof, you have forward protection.. and frankly as soon as you are off-shore you are probably sailing underpowered and from the pilothouse, my biggest qualm would be why they did put the drivers position in the BACK of the inside.. but clearly they relented and on the 54 they put the driver up front (sorry helmsman) with great forward visibility

Watched this once again and have to say very cool. 1. Just thinking, if you removed the mast and the sails, with a little touch up work, this would be a cool tiny power yacht. and 2. Still love that little Joey room (crew cabin). Just need to place a seat in it instead of a 2nd bunk and put in a tv. Than use the master cabin for a captain/wife (chef) crew.

Lovely refit :-)! Personally I'd definitely want a double sink, apart from anything else if you have stuff that needs doing but don't have the time to do it now you can put it in one sink and still have another sink to use, make cutting boards to fit on top of them too so if you want to you can put them in and just use it as more work top.

Im sorry that I'm *that guy* in the comment section... Either way I really dont understand the appeal of deck salon boats. They dont look good (imo), they sail terribly, the view from the helmstations isnt good and they're heavy af. Also why would you ever put a carbon wheel on a boat like this? seems like a massive waste of money. The furling mast seems like a pain in the rear to maintain when out on the ocean. Also the build quality of boats from Hanse Yachts (who owns Moody among others) tends to be not so great from what i have heared from owners. At least you didn't make your tour sound like the boat is high performance and "like a raceboat" (unlike your solaris 111 tour). I would really like to see you do a tour of a pure racer (Comanche 100, Rambler 88, Bella Mente for instance) to give a little bit of contrast to your usual, very cruising centric, content.

Sinks: Two large sinks. And you have SS very deep pans that "fit" in the sink, but only occupy 20% of the sink one side or the other. The SS very deep pans created so they don't move around from ship motion. These pans have multi-functions. Including thawing in warm or cool water. And soaking pans that need to soak clean.

@Fyn123
@Fyn123 7 ай бұрын
@@EamonnSeoigh all yachts are basically motor sailors. Your choice depends on how you use the boat. As a liveaboard hopping from stop to stop you want a comfortable living space and decent reliable engine. How would you get on and off docks, manoeuvres in tight marinas etc etc. Sail power is the pleasurable bit between “if” you have enough wind. The alternative is to own a yacht that you go sailing on “when” there is enough wind. A lot of snobbery among yacht owners who ignore the practicality that people look for when choosing their boats. .. imho
@yoryteperman429
@yoryteperman429 2 ай бұрын
A late reply, but still... A motorsailer is a type of a boat, and, no, not all sail boats are motor sailers even if they have a motor! The difference is the expected / anticipated use: - a motor sailor is expected to motor most or all the time, with sails augmenting it / economying fuel a little. A sail boat is a sail boat, motoring into and out of marinas but otherwise (mostly) sailing. The motor sailer design is all different- the size of tanks, balance, expected heel angles, etc. The boat in the vid imo is garbage. All contemporary Moodies are made by Hanse in the same facilities and also equally garbage (imo). Either stick with a proper sailing monohall or instead of Moody buy a proper cat already! Cheers!

$925,000. About the same as a new Amel 50. One thing I don't like is the draft. 7+ feet is really too deep to sail much of the Bahamas and South Florida. At 60+ foot though, you really don't have much choice unless you go for something like a Southerly with a swing keel.

Thank you for a very thorough review. However, it seems like a very oddly designed 62 footer. And more of a day/party boat. Bulwark is nice, but that's about all I like about the boat. Not having a full size fridge on a 62 footer?! All cabins, except for the master, are too cramped, and with extremely low ceilings over the beds. Nobody would really want to stay in them.

about the unfreezing/thawing thing. The best way to thaw meats is to place the meat in a ziploc bag and submerge it in very hot water in a pot or large bowl. Keeping the ziptop above the water. It thaws very quickly and doesn't partly cook the meat! P.S. this works for any food items that are frozen.

Aubergine *is* an English word, maybe of French origin. We certainly don’t use _eggplant_ as a word. Regards, an English person.

Not sure how I missed this one.. I am not a sail boat guy...but this boat could give me a run at trying. I had nonidea rico was a refit guy, sound man etc..jack of all trades. Victorias smile and personality,, yes she can sell ice to an Eskimo. Great tour, thank you both Very very sharp vessel. I am blown away at how roomy it is, and laid out maximizing space and very comfortable Victoria and stripes .....❤❤❤❤❤❤.

About the sink. One full size and one third would be perfect, but a quarter size does the job too.

Hi, Rico, at the start of this video I can count your steps from bow to stern so I have a more than n accurate idea of the the Moody 62 overall lenght. Lol. A joke, Victoria, just to let you both know that me and many friends follow you here -your two acounts-, your Insta accounts too and joined your Patreon, me fisrt but I hope some will follow. You're an amazing couple with lots of nautical expertise. And charm. Love all your vids (started with the reviews of Bering exploring yatchs-vessels, the complicity you share with Alexei shows him so humble, natural and charming that he doesn't appear in your vids as the mogul of the yatch industry that he is, Iove that chapter "we kidnapped Alexei"). He appears much more unreacheable on tours for other "creators", or doesn't appear at all. I imagined that your new yatch for living, sailing and ... maybe chartering? would be a top one. Cheers! I'm a RYA Oceanic Skipper and a Capitán de Yate in Spain, but never had my own yatch. Just a seasoned, shared Hallberg-Rassy in SF Bay that ended ashore in a friends ranch, now a summer place for chilling and rememembering past times. But I always had my holidays (and my wife's) well paid and in high style, as the owners of the yatches that I command are mostly friends and friends of friends, so we always have a guest cabin and mess with the guests. Keep doing your great work, we from this side will spread the word (liking, subscribing, tolling the bell and joining your Patreon). All the very best, Sheafferer

To defrost with a single sink, I put my frozen stuff into the "scola pasta" first and then the "scola pasta" into the sink

This is what I wish I could own. Pack it up to the gills and just disappear from civilization for 6 months. Maybe with some solar and wind with house batteries and the stove and water heater converted to electric for even longer practical range and one of the cabins converted into a personal gaming room.
