mommymode1985 I work in HR for a county. Trust me, we get paid less than the private sector. Additionally, there were about 5 years where we did not get pay increases. In fact, in 2010 we were furloughed, which means we didn't get paid for a couple weeks. Many times we have a hard time recruiting certain positions because the pay is so low. And contrary to popular belief, you CAN get fired from a government job. I will say, we do have great benefits, but great benefits don't pay things like the light bill or daycare.

Beatriz Abbott Yeah, I will not complain about the holidays (we get 14, and sometimes 16) and our leave. The pension is an added bonus. But, I'm not going to get rich at my job. But I enjoy what I do, and my co-workers are great for the most part.

chris smith yup all those teachers and cops and sewer workers getting rich off the tax payers...incompetent to boot. They are living large like CEO’s and bankers who produce....nothing. BTW, how are you going to privatize the subways? Or the public roads? Or education? This has been tried in the past. There is a reason why they are public. Corruption, greed, segregation. But it’s strange that you advocate for the cops and fireman to remain unionized. Could it be that they vote Republican? It’s amazing that people never complained about public workers and their pensions and salaries until the GOP has sent most of the good paying jobs over seas and replaced them with minimum wage jobs where people have no healthcare and have to work two jobs to survive. But it’s the public workers who bleed the tax payer dry, not those big companies who take corporate welfare and pay no taxes and pay wages so low that working class people have to be on food stamps and housing subsidies...which the tax payer has to pay. BTW, when Walmart comes into a small town their workers becomes the largest group of people in the area on food stamps and Medicare.

In my experience, there's a lot of truth to this video. This is why my father always told me to work for the government. With that said, during the 20+ yrs he devoted his career to work for the government himself, my father had a lot of guilt when he finished his workday at 3pm and had 2 hours to make use of the couch in his office, so he became an advocate for the community (& thought outside the :government budget box' for plans to make PB County the most effective and efficient in its educational spending, with an emphasis on rewarding teachers; my father was not a teacher; he was the head systems analyst who designed systems that created 'checks & balances' to promote efficient & effective spending). Needless to say, his mission of trying to do the best for the county was not very popular, as many look forward to scam via the annual budget increases. Thankfully, my father is known for his integrity, which as a CPA is probably why I could not have made it in many government jobs (plus, I'm a minority if you look at PB County has a whole (this also applies to Broward & Miami-Dade counties), but that's not taken into consideration here with regard to affirmative action; I just wish that could be done on a more regional area; I know I should move but I was born here & my only sibling is buried near where I am; my parents are now very elderly where my father truly has been able to walk due to something similar to ALS & has been completely deaf with hearing aids for the last couple of decades - unlike the not-so--paralyzed Kenan in the video who probably is the hardest worker at SNL so this video is ironic in his case - my daughter & her family want to stay & my mother is a retired chemist - as of last year even though she's turning 80 soon - who had not the best 401k plan as far as matching was concerned; anyway, I need to be there for them & my daughter as that's all the family - extended included I have; at some point I'll definitely move as my now adult daughter and I have a plan where we will be going...far from So. FL but I'll still make as many trips possible to visit the grave of my brother - who was killed just before he turned age 22 - and someday my parents too, who are to be buried next to him). There are good people that work for the government...just a lot of corruption in how it's run along with some 'bad apples' as they look the other way. Oh yeah, as a CPA I have witnessed firsthand many types of corruption incl. from people in Epstein & Trump's circle, including some of our governors & mayors of PB County. I so wish Florida wasn't a two-party consent tape when it involves certain recordings (I could bring a lot of people down if it wasn't; I have recordings but right now they're just for myself as it currently is illegal to share the recordings with any one else...but some day maybe that will change or they'll be released upon my death...currently, as I'm no longer a CPA & a pretty private person - never use my real name on any social media - and very Inconspicuous I'm not threatened at all...plus, I'm not afraid to die as someone who now also suffers from the effects of that inherited ALS-like disease from my paternal side of the family, which is partially why our family is small as it used to be a death sentence before medical advances were made...but sometimes i wish it was still a death sentence in my case, if I;m being completely honest; anyhow, I guess my surname's definition meaning 'to advocate' isn't just that for the heck of it). Sorry for the long rant,,,especially on a video that's supposed to be lighthearted...it;s just I have literally lived the life of this video as part of my family, with my many friends who are teachers & dealing with agencies that are supposed to help, especially when you contribute more than your fair of tax dollars, but then you get discriminated (& that department has been in trouble many times over for this but it gets to be kept 'hushed hushed,' & the endless stories I could tell after auditing certain chapters of well-know charities, like United Way...I'll leave it at that; make sure when you donate you give it to the recipient directly, or if an animal charity, then the closest person representing that animal; I'm a big fan of helping others but I make sure my $ goes where I know the recipient will MOSTLY benefit...as that's the best you can hope when taking into account truly legitimate overhead).

Wow I worked for a public community college as a third shift custodian & it sucked. Started pay at minimum wage to clean up after supposed grown adults that just fucked around like 6 year olds intentionally trashing everything for the point of trashing something. The insurance was nice but it was basically normal insurance with fees & copays the only difference was the prescription plan which did kick ass except the last few years I didn’t really get a raise & even lost $ the last couple years as the premiums ate my raise. Got no right ups in 10 years then got 4 in my 11th. I wasn’t the only 1 either it was like they were bent on getting rid of us for some reason I’m sure it had nothing to do with the fact they replaced each and every one one of us with two part-timers. The free school parts the only reason I recommend working for 1. Got a free associates. Took me a while though I’m bad at math which only would have added maybe another year except school was free. I took so many classes I didn’t even fucking need I had to pay for books which is expensive but I ain’t got kids & I’m not married so it’s my money & I love learning shit so I ended with just over a hundred credit hours & it unnecessarily took me an extra like 3 years but it was fun & I wouldn’t trade it.
