Thanks for the video. I am in the process of changing my transmission and was under the impression that would have to remove the engine first. I know better now. I truly appreciate the details.

Helpful video, thanks for taking the time. One thing I learned during reassembly was to tip (or pry) the engine back to reconnect the top bell housing bolts.

Great video, I used a ratchet strap tied to the rear axle to keep a constant tension while separating the trans.

I remember working on Subaru's in the 80's. When we would remove a transmission, we would cut the bolt heads off of bolts to use a guide pins for installation aide. My mind is toast now. I don't remember why we did that? lol.

The new ones have long studs coming off the engine that I think replace what you’re talking about

@@doingstuffwithdylan4367 Well, I guess if people are paying that out there, that must be the going competitive rate there. I would charge more here to, because I do a lot of things most mechanics/technicians don't do, but the competition here is to much. To many fly by night wanna be mechanics here, ripping people off, and never return to finish the job, and or fuck the job up so bad, people end up calling me to fix it, then wonder why it's so much more afterwards.. LOL Pay me now or pay me later..

Hi again, I have a question: Any ideas what I should check to stop the flashing AT Oil Temp light on the dashboard? Here's the backstory: I just finished installing my salvage yard transmission. I filled the transmission with 2-gal dex3, then started the car and shifted through the gears while stationary. The AT Oil Temp light was flashing. I put the transmission in park and topped off the transmission fluid. Meanwhile the engine and transmission warmed up. I checked the fluid level several times after shifting through the gears while the car was stationary. Fluid level is perfect. The ATF Oil Temp light on the dash continues to flash steadily. The transmission shifts normally through the gears while the car is stationary. Until I figure out what the flashing AT Oil Temp light means I will not drive the car.

Have you cleared the codes? Are there any codes? Thanks for the comment!
@bertmaster20002 жыл бұрын
@@doingstuffwithdylan4367 no codes with my OBD2 reader. I don't think the reader can read transmission codes from the TCU. I plan to look into resetting the TCU...Looking for instructions online now
@bertmaster20002 жыл бұрын
@@doingstuffwithdylan4367 I checked codes but it doesn't matter. In order to check codes I had to drive the car. Front differential howls like a SOB, so the transmission I just installed is a POS. I guess I'll get another one and install it again
