Hello Joe. I'm going to do this on gf's 2010 terrain v6. Thank you for making this excellent how to video. You get right to the point. Most videos are 15 minutes talking about what the video is going to be about. You are so clear in explaining every step and socket size. Again thank you so much for this video!

Very good, I'm glad someone finally has a video for a 3.0l v6. Thank you, now that I see it step by step it's a lot easier to do than trying to follow the OEM written procedure and pics. With the upper intake off, now would also be a good time to use a scope and have a look at the intake valves and check to see how much build up is on them, direct injection engines have a problem with carbon build up on the back side of the intake valves. Also I don't know if you did this but didn't show it , before reinstalling the coil packs you should use a little dielectric high temp silicone grease into the spark plug socket of the coil and a little on the coil seals, this helps seal out contamination and makes for a smoother install.

What a great and helpful video walk through! Worked perfectly for my 2016 Equinox with 3.6L V6! total time: about 4 hours working slowly and carefully! Couldn’t get hose off back of manifold so kept it attached and had just enough slack to get new gasket in and all rear plugs changed. I used 13 ft-lbs for the plugs.

I dread having to do this. After 60 years wrenching on engines. I was going to have to remove an intake manifold to change spark plugs. Thank goodness for iridium tipped spark plugs are going back in. 100k miles. This one is going to the shop. You did a good job on the video. Explaining everything and speeding up the video. If you want to tell us what type of spark plugs go back in and the average cost at the Gm dealership and at a local shop per the mechanics price guide book would get people ready for when the service writer tells the customer.

Video is very useful. Completed this job with a buddy today. Also changed the cam shaft actuator solenoids in bank 1 as I was having a P00014 engine light code error. Overall this video saved me a ton of time and the car runs much better as a result of replacing the solenoids and plugs. I’d recommend changing the coil pack whilst you’re at it for the money and you have everything out. Thanks for posting this video.

Thanks. I tackled this job today. Took a little longer than I expected but I wanted to make sure I got it right. This video was very helpful. Car runs smoother now. Only issue I had was that I had oil on the threads of two of the plugs against the firewall. All the valves had deposits on them big time. The car doesn't use oil so not sure what the issue is.

Great video. I don't know where you live but here in Florida, I visited 3 dealers and the cost for this job was $2400. I wanted to change the coil packs also but that's part of the job and should only be parts added cost. They all want to double the labor for that. I bought all the OEM parts for $460 and will do it myself saving me around $2000. Give yourself a pat on the back for this video. Times are tough and that $2000 will get us a lot of survival necessities.

This video is so well done, it brings tears to my eyes ... Why Gmc made 3-plugs(Easy) to reach & 3- Damm near impossible, is down right outrageous. I think I could do this but it scares da hell out of me that I'll forget to snap something back, drop something or over tighten a bolt. At least I now know, the job isn't as arduous for an expert. I'm dreading hearing the cost. Nicely done.

Is the equinox 2010 3.0 your car? According to this video with the spark plugs. I'm looking at changing out the cam shaft sensors. And the crankshaft sensor. Would ut help to do the cam shaft sensor , I would be able to get to easier? Also can I get to the crankshaft? Or not. From what I read I would have to move the catalytic convertor and exhaust? But could I get it from the top. Any help I would greatly appreciate. With this pandemic my wife ain't working. Need to save the money

Good vid. But there's a fundamental rule about working on anything that can be contaminated. Always work farthest away and come towards you. In this case, you should have worked on the plugs closest to the firewall (away from you) and then worked your way to the front of the engine (close to you). Then, You wouldn't have to worry so much about constantly going over the front openings of the plugs and possibly getting even the smallest debris into the intakes. Also, you should have used painters tape instead of a rag to completely close off the cylinders. Hope you can take my constructive criticism. This might help you at making better videos in the future.

I'm a little late to this party. I agree with the other comments about the clarity and usefulness of the video. I have one question hopefully you can answer before I set out on this fun - I didn't see any mention of the intake manifold gasket. I just rolled over 100K miles in my 2013 Terrain Denali - is it advisable to remove & replace the manifold as demonstrated without replacing gasket? tia!

Thanks for the video. I have a few questions if you can be so kind to assist. I have this 3.6 in my Terrain and will be doing this due to a misfire cylinder 1 code. Anyone know which is the first in the firing order? I seem to see conflicting diagrams when I search. I will be doing all the plugs and the coil on cyl 1. I ordered acdelco iridium plugs and notice they are factory gapped at .043 and say do not regap BUT oem seems to say .044. Should I regap them? Thx
@JoeTheAutoGuy
@JoeTheAutoGuy 5 жыл бұрын
Do not regap plugs. Cylinder 1, 3,5 are on the back closet to firewall cyl 1 is closest to passenger side , 2,4 6 are closest to front of car 2 being closest to passenger side, I highly recommend checking for oil in the spark plug wells if there is then valve cover gaskets should be replaced

Hi Joe, back 2 years later with the same vehicle now with 56k miles. Replacing all 6 plugs and the coil on cyl 1 2 years ago solved my code issue and the trucks been running great until recently - thanks for the video it helped greatly. I now notice an engine shake at 1500-2000 rpm but have no codes. Most noticeably when I'm in park or neutral although it could be occurring while in D as well but its hard to tell. Cleaned the mass airflow sensor, checked the motor + trans mounts the best I could and they appear ok. I have only put on 16k miles since I replaced the plugs 2 years ago and was wondering if I should do them yet again to try and resolve my engine shake or if you may have any other ideas on what it could be on my 2015 3.6 Terrain? If you think I should do the plugs again should I use something different than the ones I had used last time = ACDELCO 41109 {#12622561, 12681660} GM Original Equipment; Iridium? Thank you.
