Great Job, Do you mind sharing if you used OEM parts or Aftermarket and if so, which brand?
@GarageKing2 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for the great comment and I mean it !! This was one of my first vids, and you can see I didn’t even have a tripod LOL :) I have come a long way since. To answer your question I have replaced a lot of bearings and I vary rarely use OEM as I find them over priced. Call as you never know…. Sometimes the OEM surprises us. That being said I always use a quality bearing like SKF. I find the price difference in Canada between the cheap no name and quality brands is not a lot so I always go with the good aftermarket name. Most times I’ll go with SKF. Hope I helped you out :)

@@GarageKing Thank you so much!! Yeah, you never know about OEM prices, sometimes they are quite competitive. There are are certain things I prefer OEM like the water pump, thermostat, etc. But sometimes, some oem parts are overpriced and you can confidently replaced them with after market. I started hearing a kind of bearing noise on my dad's rav4. He lives in Mexico and I took it to the dealer and OMG!!, the price was outrageous. Service manager even suggested to look somewhere else. Fortunately, other parts and labor here in Mexico are way cheaper than in the USA or Canada. I will need to find that SKF part in Mexico or other reputable brand. Keep up the good work!! :)

@@rubbertoea8088 Thanks !!!! I know the top brands here in Canada are SKF, Moog, Timkin, and NSK. If you can find any of those you should be just fine. As you saw in the video the job isn actually that hard, you don't even need to take the suspension apart, and the bearing comes together with the hub (so you don't have to press anything together) Just make sure you have the right sockets, I think it was a 30mm 12 point for the big nut.

Very good video it was clear and good audio. I would like to know the reason for the replacement, was the bearing making a noise?
@GarageKing3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment, and to answer your question the wheel bearing was making noise. The noise was the loudest at 80km/h or about. 50mph. At slow speeds it was not too bad, but you could definitely hear it in the cabin when the vehicle was driven on the highway. Thanks for the comment and glad you enjoyed the video !!

Hi! In your video, you mentioned the ABS sensor. Did you have to reset the ABS and 4WD lights when you replaced the wheel bearing? I noticed mine turned on. If so, how’d you clear them? I have a 2010 Toyota RAV4 6 cyl. Thanks!
@GarageKing2 жыл бұрын
Hey There, I didn't have to reset anything, just be very careful when taking out the bearing as you can see in the video that ABS sensor tab can easily be broken. Most of the time you can't get the sensor out anyway, as its rusted in so just be careful. When you are done and you drive it, it should just clear on its own. The reluctor sensor in the bearing is probably bad. When you do take out the bearing spray some brake clean around the sensor and give it a good inspection. If you find any cracks in the plastic sensor housing part that is near the wheel bearing replace it. Normally they don't fail, but while you are in there it's a good idea to check. Happy Holidays to you :)

I have a question, I’m having trouble popping up the punched in area. It’s punched down so tight and it’s not budging. What do you recommend?

Hi There, I'm not sure what you mean. I went back and watched the video and I'm not too sure. Can you provide me with a time stamp? At what point in the video are you talking about.

Can a bad rack&pinion cause a wheel bearing to fail? Outer tie rod is good.
@GarageKing2 ай бұрын
nope, they usually go bad because the seal goes and they start to run dry.

What hub bearing did you buy?
@GarageKing Жыл бұрын
Hey There, I bought a NSK bearing, but they cost more. You can get cheap ones on Amazon. Please note the bearing for the V6 and 4 cylinder are different. For a V6 and econo bearing is amzn.to/3gXOGGd and for the 4 cylinder NSK is amzn.to/3ukzu9a so you can see the price difference. It use to be much bigger, but they are closing the gap.
