2010 VW Routan Check Engine Light EGR

This time around we have a 2010 VW Routan (rebranded Dodge Caravan). The idiot light came on a few months ago and inspection time is up, so now it's gotta be addressed.

Yeah, the Routan has many issues and the parts are three times more expensive than the Grand Caravan.

Hi! I have a vw lupo 1.0 mpi(auc) with P0401 - 35-00 error EGR System: Insufficient flow. The EGR Valve and pipe are very clean and I still got the issue, do you have any idea what is wrong with it? Thank You!

Sounds like you’re saying that sometimes it’s worth buying OEM replacement parts vs aftermarket. I found an aftermarket EGR valve for 75$ new. But I should go ahead and buy the better OEM one.

Jeremy, the aftermarket quality continues to fall like a rock. I can not stress this enough, particularly with anything electrical. Not as bad with hard parts. It is a shame, especially when the OE can seem extremely overpriced. Sometimes we get lucky and the aftermarket is simply reboxing OE. Let me know how you make out. Thanks

That wasn't the point of the video. If it was, I would've titled it "how to replace an egr valve". This video was about the diagnosis. I left the replacement to my 12 year old daughter.

Replaces my egr valve a year ago and my car started jerking and idle rough and its throwing egr code is it safe to assume that the only problem? Thats the only code that shows

Never guess!!! My videos never encourage "Silver Bullet" fixes. Diagnose, repair or replace with quality (OE parts if necessary) and confirm repair. I strive to encourage the techs and educate the consumer. Perhaps revisiting the video will help you troubleshoot the problem with more confidence. Let me know how you make out. Cheers

I had one question do I need to have engine on or off and if off turn key but not on?? I have 2011 routan

That's sounds like a riddle. "Off but not on"? Why are we turning the key? What are we trying to do? I'm so confused

2009 town and country 4.0l ...I've replaced it 3 times already it keeps killing them ..I get 1404 ..405 and 406 Any idea what might be causing it ? I'm using a dorman lifetime warranty replacement. And do u have any idea what causes a delayed start at random starts ? I've done a relay piggyback on the fuel pump relay even with a new egr it still does it!! Doesnt throw codes or anything and cant be replicated soooooo frustrating...even switch back to premium gas ...any ideas would much appreciated:)

I know carbon build up or soliniod failure would cause it but I've never replaced it that often before..specially on a lifetime warrenty part 🤔

Not sure what an 09 To Utah is. Guessing a typo. Would be happy to help though. Why did you change the EGR? What trouble codes do you have? What diagnostic steps have you done?

@@pinoy2010ful did you do any tests to confirm the EGR was faulty as opposed to a circuit fault? Did you use an OE part or aftermarket?

@@SAAutoRepair no test is done and it's aftermarket...i just depend on my scanner

@@pinoy2010ful I wish I could be of more help. I dont trust the aftermarket on this part and I would strongly suggest testing first. Guessing gets expensive and you may create a 2nd new problem by taking out a good part and installing a bad aftermarket one when you have a circuit issue.
