A chinese coach would've called timeout in game #2 to bag it if they had the 5-1 lead

It's really facinating on how zjk became world and Olympic champ. Wheras ma long is in a much higher resolve than zhang back then zjk could not beat ma 2010-2012

@mj y that's why i'm facinated means i was amazed with your performance. Its not black and white logic. Its a fact. Not only zjk is good he also have lady luck on his side. Its better to be good and lucky rather than just being good. If you have those two your unstopable

It was because of Wang Hao. Zhang Jike has an amazing singles record vs Wang Hao (9 wins, 5 losses) and in both times that Zhang Jike won the olympics and the world championship, he faced Wang Hao (Wang Hao beat Ma Long in the 2013 world championship semis). I always thought that Wang Hao was Ma Long's weakness but now that I had a look at their head to head singles records, they're actually pretty close at 12-10 in favor of Wang Hao. Zhang Jike on the other hand as 6 wins and 12 losses against Ma Long.

Zhang Jike had a stronger backhand than Ma Lon or anybody else in the Chinese Team. That's why Ma Long had issues with Wang Hao and also Zhang Jike. Even when Ma Long beats Zhang Jike it use to be 4-3, like in the Austrian Open or German Open. It's only later, post 2015 Ma Long became much more dominant. He then also had a great backhand.

I don't understand why they keep continuously smashing when they can't keep up with it... Their smashing and countering don't really look impressive to me...

It’s because that if each one of the players start to blocking or defending instead of attacking (smashing/countering), the speed of the ball will hugely become slower. Once the speed of the ball slows down, it gives space and time for another player to attack more comfortably. That’s why pro-players(attack-styled-players) always tend to attacking instead of defending even attacking is more risky.

@@POYUNFOTO got your point but I don't still think it's the right thing to do when you can't do it well...

@@randyatimi4511 it may look high risk, but it’s even higher risk to play a different style. And their play style shows great results in major tournaments
