As a Yankee fan, I have great respect for the Boston Red Sox. Neither starter intentionally hit anyone. Orioles reliever clearly did it on purpose to Ortiz. But my respect also goes to Remy and Orsillo. Living in Red Sox Nation all my life, those 2 I have admired for so long and they know the game better than anyone. I'm a Yankee fan but I always watched Red Sox games because I loved Remy and Orsillo commentating

Setup inside. Pitch is inside. Gurrero lowers his hands into the pitch. Pause at 0:03, you'll see his hands go right into where the pitch was. Totally unintentional. It even looks to the naked eye like it hits the bat!

I'm an Orioles fan, I remember watching this game. The Boston commentators are right though...the pitch that hit Vladdy was clearly just a pitch that got away. You can tell by the pitcher's reaction...he was immediately upset with himself. Now, with that said, there were prior warnings and when the warnings are on, the next time someone gets hit...usually regardless of intent, the pitcher goes and the Manager goes. He COULD have used some discretion, but I feel like you know the warnings are in place, as a pitcher/catcher combo, you need to be a LITTLE more careful with pitch selection.

I didn't hate Carl Yasterzemski or Fred Lynn. Both were terrific ballplayers, who I enjoyed watching very much. Also, Bobby Orr and Phil Esposito, in the NHL. However, I do despise the organizations that they played for. As for the fans (in the Boston area, itself), they are the worst in the world. Equal (to me) with the hooligans of the soccer world. They boo their own players, as easy as the would a Yankee. No wonder Ted Williams spit at them.
