Don’t know why I’m recommended this 12 yr later…..but, a good rule change by MLB. He couldn’t stay on the bag without getting taken out by the runner……that should be an “out” call, it’s a Bush League move to take out a defenseless infielder.

A tag has to be by the glove with ball inside the glove or by the ball in their hand. You can not tag someone with a foot. Damn that's like the first rule you learn in baseball holy shit!

That was a good call for afterwords but no he never touch him with the ball or glove. the runner clearly thought he was out though. I don't give the neighborhood play to youth rec ball for the fact that they have to touch the base for an out.

He was in base, Ryan made the play, However it's way too close for him to freak out like that LOL. 😂😂 There had to be some prior instances that happened during this game for Ryan to rage so much. Lol. Good for him though, I hate umpires, I don't think they are needed in MLB anymore. They really piss me off today, they are the reason the Cardinals win streak ended today. I swear on everything we would have won this game today against the Cubs but the umpires took it right from us man they just snatched it. +defiantone in order to tag a runner out which is what Theriot would have had to do since he missed the bag, he would have had to touch him with the ball or the piece of equipment which the ball is in. He didn't do any of that which makes he runner safe. Only time it doesn't matter where the ball is if the fielder is standing with a foot on the bag. Apparently both you and Theriot flunked out of baseball 101. Correct call by umpire.

Which is exactly what he was arguing about. A rule that no longer is/was really part of the he actual rules.
